Thank you HotFr8 for bring 1/2 Cup in as moderator. In that roll we all were introduced to a special person.

For the Church family, my heart goes out to you. Thank you letting him share time with his GJ family.

To Stephen, your cup runneth over. I hate that the good die young but I’m glad that you no longer have to suffer.

Godspeed, heaven is getting a special resident.

Goodbye my friend. Andrew, you will survive, though it will be hard for a while for all the family.
When you are ready, don't be a stranger here.

I have been copping a fair ribbing lately, firstly from some of our members in Australia, that I have not started a thread or posted much about my shed, so today is it and secondly from some members (who shall remain nameless) who cannot understand just what it is like to live at the bottom of the world.
So this will be a taste of things to come as this is the way some perceive we do things down here.

To Andrew and the rest of the 1/2Cup family.

I'm incredibly saddened by the news I saw when I opened FB this morning.

I'm just glad I got to meet the man himself late last year, and I will if needed, represent GJ at the funeral. I'll be going, unless it's a private matter, as I just have to pay my respects for an outstanding man.

RIP 1/2Cup! The world has lost a great human being.

Lyndon
Very sad!

Sorry to hear about your loss Andrew :(

Let’s remember Steve this long weekend by doing what he would have wanted of us and him; just a little more QST.

His endless positivity and encouragement will always be remembered by past and future GJ’ers

Rest In Peace Steve

1/2 Cup was the 1st to welcome me to GJ.

He offered so much encouragement to me on my Making of a Table thread.

He held a special place here on GJ, and I know he’ll leave a void not soon to be filled.

Friend, mentor, father, family man and all the rest will be said.

A massive void in our midst that cannot be filled.

Thank you Steve, and rest in peace.

I will celebrate your life when I think of clocking screws and creating order out of chaos.

To the Church family and his family here on GJ; Some will remember Steve's accomplishments in life. Others will marvel over what he could do. Now that the breath of his words are a gust in the wind, only the wise will hear them, save for those of us whom his heart has mended.
To Andrew;
As for father's the world has given us a title after all---------Time. For it is time we will never have enough of, time we will wish we had more of and time we will always be willing to wait for to find our reward. A reward through the development of our children, not in expansion of their minds, their growth in material riches, or achievements in social prowess, but in the strengthening of their character as they themselves attempt to blaze the same trail we tried so hard to clear for them...….so they could see which way to turn in order to carry on in an honorable direction!
Steve you are sadly missed...…..Bobby

Vale Steve Church.

You've left a lasting impression on me mate and though we never met in person I consider you a good friend.

A giant among garage dwellers, your legacy will live on here forever.

RIP 1/2 Cup.

I will think of you fondly every time I clock a screw, or check my lawn edges with digital calipers.

I will miss Steve alot.
He was a kindhearted talented man, and is in a better place now.
He always had encouraging words for me when he would comment on my thread.
To Andrew, Mrs. Church, and the rest of his family, I offer my condolences.

Vale Steve :( He was always one of the first guys to comment on your thread with positive feedback and support. The esteem he was held by, by his friends and family in 'real life', as well as his friends on here, reflects a lot about the man that he was. Thoughts are with his family.

So sad to hear this news and my sincere condolences to the family and prayers for them.
We have lost a good friend who through this forum was able to make many lives better through simple encouragement and his examples of how to treat people and do the job right.
As has been said I too will miss his comments as he never failed to respond or to pop into my thread and leave a few words.
Never met in person but always felt like an old friend.
Missed but not forgotten.

When my Grandfather passed away the family wanted to have a small funeral with family and "a few" friends. My Grandfather lived in the same house his entire life and was incredibly active in local government and the local community as a whole. He was a well liked and respected individual. That "little" funeral ended up having almost a thousand people in attendance. It was humbling to see everyone and hear how Grandpa touched their lives.

I haven't met 1/2Cup but seeing how so many people have stopped in and posted condolences I can only imagine the type of father and mentor he was. It is clear he had an impact in all our lives as shown by the many condolences on here. He will be missed by all and although gone, he won't be forgotten. Just typing this reply with the little info about my Grandfather brought a tear or two to my eyes and he passed away in 2004.

The passing of a love one is always trying in every way possible but they're both in better places. I bet Steve meets up with my Grandpa Leo and they'll finish everything they started down here through the rest of us they left behind.

I am very sad to hear that 1/2 Cup is gone but at the same time, I'm glad that I met him in person at the beginning of April. I'm also glad that in recent weeks and months, he was able to spend time with family and get some quality shed time in as well, in spite of his illness.

We have lost an exceedingly kindhearted man.

I am so glad you have taken time to read and see the posts for 1/2.

I spotted this in a post by Finallygotit.

That is a fitting tribute..... that was from early on if I remember correctly.

1/2 Cup was the embodiment of what makes the GJ special. He was always cheerful, humorous and supportive. To now find out he encompassed those qualities while not feeling well only illustrates how great of an individual he really was.... we will all miss his contributions dearly.

I raise a glass and toast to 1/2 Cup... May everyday be filled with QST....!

I am sad to think such a giant has fallen well before his time. His comments and encouragement have helped me thru a couple of things lately. Andrew, I know it is hard to loose your dad, But he is still watching and trying to guide you all.
In short, I am pretty sure he will be missed the world over.
Yes HOTFR8, "have you had some QST today" is very appropriate.
RIP

I had no idea that the QST that's mentioned so often on GJ came from 1/2 Cup's thread. I didn't know him well, but I remember seeing his posts often in other's threads. The entire GJ community will really miss him, and all the good things he always had to say to others.
