Nice collection of parts. Interesting looking pieces especially since since I’ve never seen flathead parts standalone. Maybe you could build more than one Model A....for each child.

Andrew: I still can't believe your dad isn't typing posts as I do to and just wanted to say that he's still talking to me daily telling me many things I need to hear and that I will cure my FSD if I keep at it.

that said I know 2019 was a rough go so wanted to wish you and your family the best 2020.

also good luck getting the Model A finished and nice work so far!!!

Just got back on GJ after several months and caught up. Really sorry to hear of Steve's passing, and so sorry for your loss Andrew.

Take care and blessings.

It is two years today since I visited Steve and sat in his Shed and talked. I had been in Kyabram for the Mack Muster and phoned to ask if he was home. I surprised him by making a visit.

Today I had hoped to call Andrew and do the same thing. As the Mack Muster has been cancelled I am still at home and sadly will not be visiting Andrew.

Hope all is well with you Andrew.

I just wanted to leave a quick note here. Steve was always so positive and inspirational. Each and every time I made an upgrade in my garage he took the time to compliment me and or give me advice. Being that I felt so much support from him means that I only know 1% of the support he must have provided you and your family Andrew.

As we fast approach 7th June 2020 just an advanced reminder that on this day a year ago we lost our friend and good mate 1/2 Cup. Not a day has passed with out me being reminded of him in some way. I have some of his work here I look at every day. His laser cut work and electrical work being the controller for my XMAS tree lights. So on the 7th after you have cut the grass to millimeter perfection, then clocked all your screws. Stop, have some QST and remember our good friend. You are missed by your Garage Journal Mates and Friends. Simon.

Do you get the feeling that your dad is still here...with everyone talking about things he did, would be like he is still here. I get the same thing when ever I see any of my dads mates. It does make it easier to accept knowing that everyone else misses him too.
Hold off on the part out....just find a spot for then and label the box.

Andrew, today is a day of reflection for many of us. Your father had a positive influence on all of the folks on the Garage Journal and he is and will be missed. I think of all the positive comments he left on my thread and can only imagine what it was like having him for a father and grandfather. I know we all wish we had more time with him but I am thankful for the time we did have.

Andrew: i'm not certain how long i'll leave your dad's memory in my sig line, but as you might have read I did always enjoy chatting with him here on GJ. He's certainly been missed and he was a very positive guy here so guessing he probably was around you too.

take care and hope all is well in your world.

Irene and I used yesterday's reduced virus restrictions to go on a Southern Highlands jaunt in the XJR, which about 4 million other Sydneysiders did as well (traffic was horrendous - not to mention trying to buy lunch). But I did mention to her that yesterday was the first anniversary, and she simply couldn't believe it has been a year already.

Much missed, but I did complete my memorial to Steve:

I took that photo propped up on the toolbox, and this one fittingly against the garage door :

In the Kaizen Foam backing is the name plate Steve sent me, which is a bit hard to see:

IMG_0197.JPG

The screws in the Ford badge were the ones Steve originally sent to me, and I did ask the framer to clock them, but he must have missed that instruction.....

I was trying to find some space to mount it in the garage, but there isn't a spare inch available, but I did find a good spot in a corner of my study :

Also, I was going to include the "Andy made" medallion, but after using the Bob Heine method, I painted then filed off the unit:

and found a spot for it on my toolbox:

I'm going to post this on my thread as well.

Chin up Andrew and the rest of the Churches. I hope yesterday passed in united remembrance.

Hard to believe it's been a year already. I installed a brass doorbell next to our front door today, and couldn't help but think of 1/2 Cup as I clocked the screws.

My sincere condolences, Andrew.

I'm missing my wife more than ever lately. I thought it would subside.

Why do I miss your dad? We never met. We never spoke. But his kindness and wisdom permeated Garage Journal. I was trimming a lawn for a friend (never do that at my farm) and had to take a picture to post on 1/4 Cup's thread. Of course my work is substandard but at least I have a standard.

I would only take a picture like that for one reason.

We remember, hundreds of us.

Hi All,
Some really great tributes and memories you have all share about my Dad, Since dad has passed my wife and i split up on the 19th of December 2019 and things have been incredibly hard. it was only 2 months after dad passed I was getting requests for a trial separation, i couldn't think of anything worse at that point and from then on things deteriorated. Things have been rough but with great memories of dad im sure i shall stay strong as i have been and be the best son and father to my boys as Dad would have wanted.

Thanks for all your memories.

Hang tough Andrew. For me, I found a project to help me get past the break up. It was getting my dad's Massey 65 back up and running. And when you get your head back on straight (it took me almost a year), look back and see what you could have done better. Good luck.

Andrew I faced divorce, the loss of my job, a major death in the family and a move to a new home and out again(I built it to try and save my marriage) all in the same year. That was almost 40 years ago. Character is built from the obstacles we overcome. Your dad had plenty of character. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Looking forward to following your maturation. Missing your Dad's contribution to mine.

Andrew, sad to hear how crappy things have been. I never met your dad, but I am pretty certain he has instilled in you all the life tools and resilience necessary to get through the rough times.
It probably wont seem like it for some time, but you will come through the other side a better, stronger man.
Good luck.

Andrew, there is nothing we can do to make your altered life better except to offer support and maybe some useful and/or useless advice and condolence. If you already have a support system, make sure you use it and if you don't, feel free to lean on us. I can't offer advice on getting through a divorce but it looks like a fair number of Garage Journal folks can. We will never be a substitute for your father but we do think of you as a member of our GJ family.

Bob is right some of us have had the same experience. I separated from my wife in November 2006, divorced final May 2007, followed with my dad (step dad) passing in Dec. The lemonade out of lemons was I was able to spend 2 weeks with my mom afterwards. I also decided to return to school so my focus was that and hanging out with friends. Cherish your children and teach them about grandpa.
