And letting you know I’m not neglecting the homestead, I replaced a both control arms, and both sway bar links on the oldest daughter’s Escape. On the holiday, I cleaned the barn from the Escape mess, mowed the lawn, and put up the next 4’ of fencing on the east side of the garden. The hardest parts was putting the anti-deer ribbons on it. The last pic may be hard to see, but the deer actually took the fence out right down to the ground.

Deer for the most part leave my garden stuff alone.

They have good corn and soybean fields just 1 mile away so they partake in the all you can buffet at those establishments!

My dad loved gardening, and had a constant battle with the deer wrecking his garden.
He finally put up an electric fence that mostly kept the deer out.
One time when we went up to visit I helped him repair the fence.

Gents, on the deer front, they seems to eat everything around here. I had to put "cages" around my wifes little fruit trees, they were eating them back so far. And like you Sub, the corn fields are nearby, less than 100 yards from the edges of our property.

I don't mind hospitals, I guess because I've never been there for anything life threatening, just a to cap off a few oil wells I've somehow managed to open up. Poison Ivy on the other hand. That I hate with a passion.

And GB, thanks for the compliment, but I'm pushing 60 hard. Or did I read that backwards?

Kirk, I have been in the urgent care for the last 6 years on May 15
(+/- 5 days) for poison ivy. A taper dose of Prednisone and I'm on my way and good to go in about a day or two. If I don't catch it right away I'll find myself in the ER.

I totally get your negative feelings towards poison ivy.

A classmate owns a vineyard outside of Adrian, MI( Flying Otter Vineyard); has deer problems, too. Makes great jerky and sausage, IMO.

RIP 1/2Cup. So life goes on. Last Friday I got an invite to Mark Stielow’s Spring Car Show. FYI, Mark is considered the father of the Pro-Touring car movement. Anyway, Here’s some of the rides that showed up at his place. The Vette belonged to Steve McQueen, and there was a “almost” daily driven for GT40 there. The owner had put EFI on it to give it some semblance of street manners, but other than that, it was original. I've created an album with pics of the rest of the cars I thought were interesting. That's about a 1/3.

The worst is when you have poison ivy so badly you scratch until you bleed and need to go to the ER to get shots for the swelling. Also poison ivy is really easy to get in places you don’t want it.

I got this from a guy at work for $20. It won’t hold pressure. Says it’s a 3 ton Blackhawk. Any clue as to if he’s right? If so, where’s the best place to parts for it?

It’s shut down week and I’m hammering away at trying to get the place squared away before September (when I want to start the BIG project). 4 ½ yards of crushed concrete to fill most of the pot holes in the driveway. Powerwashing the deck turned into powerwashing the house. Both way past due.

Today’s job was trimming the branches back from the driveway. I borrowed the neighbor’s tractor and used the bucket to get the high ones. This is the biggest load and there were 2 more. Then I took the first pile of wood down to another neighbor. Two trailer loads. This was the smallest, last load, but the logs were the heaviest. I’m paying for it now.

I'm not a floor jack expert but I know there is a vintage floor jack thread somewhere on GJ that probably has many that could help identify yours. It looks big enough to be 3 ton rated. A cheap deal for $20.

I'm not a floor jack expert but I know there is a vintage floor jack thread somewhere on GJ that probably has many that could help identify yours. It looks big enough to be 3 ton rated. A cheap deal for $20.

The big ones are probably only 2' long, but I guess they weighed about 200#. Set one end in the trailer, pick up the other, and SHOVE.

Headed back down to the neighbors to get his tractor again. Scrap and dump run today, then hopefully repair the deck.

Yesterday was another busy one. Loaded up all the scrap/trash and took it in with the help of two of my daughters. They got $15 each, plus lunch at Subway, and a treat from Meijers. I got $110, but had to pay $11 for dump entry, $25 for lunch, and $40 at Meijers. But I did get some new suspenders out of the deal.

In the late afternoon I started in on repairing the deck. It was totally cluegged. Non-treated wood, nails instead of screws (just tapped the boards and they fell off). The deck boards were treated, but the angle left the corners unsupported and prone to breakage. One more trip to Menards, two hours of work, and I hope to be done with the repairs. Then I just have to wait for dry weather to slap on some Thompson’s.

Yup, Tylenol is for the pain, ibuprofen is for the inflammation. Ibuprofen is prescribed in 800 MG tablets for injuries all the time, so four 200MG covers that. I would take with food, doesn't need to be much, even an apple, but take it with something. I would also take it at least a few times, otherwise the ibuprofen doesn't really do too much.

I think we all can related to getting older, sometimes you just need to take a breather. Things catch up to you and then they hurt a lot more and you take a lot longer to recover. I am not sure that any of us will ever learn this though..........

Ok, it was 3 hours, but it’s done, reconstruction wise. Dropped off a load of stuff to the oldest daughter & Boyfriend, hit Menards, and dusted this job. This should get us through with a decent deck until Robin figures out how she really wants it. The gate even works (hasn’t swung freely since I joined this circus). I’m staying out of the heat (QST) until 5ish, then time to trim and mow the lawn. Robin’s been mowing the part around the house and bagging it, but the little mower doesn’t seem to cut well.

Power-washing sure helps to remove old disintegrating paint.
I bought one for that purpose.
A few years ago my wife painted our house, (don't judge I painted the real high parts that she was not comfortable to do being that high on a ladder).
The power-washer sure is a timesaver. We have cedar shakes though, and I had to be careful not to damage them with the high pressure water.
