Since I had to take the screens off to powerwash the house, I decided we should fix a few of the screens. Half were decent shape, this is a “good” sample of the rest. Ducks are destructive.

And just so you think I don't get a chance to have a little fun, I went shopping at my favorite store ,.......................................................................................................Alro.
The frame on the dump truck pretty much collapsed. Actually, the whole box needs to be replaced, but we can’t afford it now, so I’m just repairing the long rails that go front to back. It was a uneventful trip home.

Destructive ducks are a problem I never want.

Driving home with that load must have been a bit nerve wracking, that steel must have swung a bit on the wide side.

thanks for the updates looks like you have been keeping busy!

SB, it's been a very busy summer. I'm way too old for this pace.

Destructive ducks are a problem I never want.

Driving home with that load must have been a bit nerve wracking, that steel must have swung a bit on the wide side.

I kept hoping that someone would tailgate me and I would stop quickly. I am an evil jerk.

So I've had problems getting pictures off my phone and onto the computer. Issue resolved. Replaced a siding panel that was damaged and got the barn painted. Tried to fix the AC on the Orphan (Saturn SL1) but after spending a whole day trying to save a hard line, replacing a mis-sized o-ring, the line broke.

Spent several evenings cleaning the bench. Felt good to see bench top.

But I did get a new wagon built. It will get a full frame, front suspension, and real steering. It was quite a train.

Keep at it, eventually you will get it so clean the bench will be afraid to get dirty. ;)

That ***** about the Saturn, but the wagons are awesome. I like the wheel barrow too.

Strouty, you know as well as I do, benches never stay clean, we just try to keep them somewhat tidy. The TDW(Tail Draggin Wheelbarrow) is my favorite. The fender and frame were an intense build.

Cool little wagon collection you got going there. Keep those design juices flowing for the next one.

Bob

X2 on that!

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. The next one is all planned out, a working dump truck.

At least the fenders won't be rusty and I have done the same thing with a car, people look at you funny, I just repeat over and over in my head, "I don't have a car payment".

At least the whole car is brown now, even if the shade is off. It sure beats the black Gorilla brand duct tape it went through most of the winter and all of the summer with. FYI the Gorilla tape held up well even took it through the car wash several times.

There are advantages to having a multi-color car. People give you a wide berth on the highway, as they figure you don't have insurance.

CAR MANUFACTURERS HATE HIM!! Lol.

I've put more old bones back on the road that others gave up on than I can count. This year it will be a 2004 78k miles sedan hit in the left rear while parked in the street. I expect it to be looking reasonably decent for under a grand including title transfer. Ice cold AC sealed that deal.

So I'm hoping to be a month behind on starting the '52 COE build and bring the big boy in the end of October. FYI, I'm having a "Big Triple P", Kirk's Big Project Planning Party on the last Saturday of October (the 26th). There will be burgers, dogs, and fluids. We'll be going over the BoM and build sequence/timing. If you're interested, drop me a line and give you the address.

True dat!

Senior year of high school I had a mostly Chevy caviler.

85 Buick skylark white drivers door
86 Chevy caviler black and or primer gray
87 Pontiac sunbird gray passenger door

Got sprayed gunned black by a farmer I was working for.
Not the best job but price was right.

So on to the "fun" stuff. After trying to get to this since June, and waiting a week while O'Reilly's worked out the bugs in their ordering system, the long block has landed. Shout out to my guys at O'Reilly's, their engine ordering system *****, but they fought hard to make this show up. The guys are great.

I was going to put some of the old parts on the new engine to day, but wound up getting 2 bales of straw for my wife's ducks and this parts washer for $25. The hose that goes from the pump to the outlet tubing needs to be replaced. Still a good deal I think. Got 9 gallons of solvent to go with it.

Looks like a good sized parts washer. With all the fluid included I think you got a great deal for $25. That will come in handy in your shop.

I’ve been trying to get everything around the place squared away before I start on the big project. On the to-do list was paint the barn. The barn itself is painted, but I need to get the trim done. Kind of hard with all the rain we’ve had this year. Facia and soffits are done on the north and west sides. A 1/3 of the south facia/soffit is done, but weather has put a stop to that. I have to finish caulking it, then I can put up the corner and window/door trim. Hopefully tonight I’ll get the parts washer fixed. “It’s a process”, the wife tells me.

I hear you. Been trying to find the leaks around some skylights and seal for the last two months. It rains 5 out of every 7 days and I'm always booked for something else on the decent days.
I've got Friday circled to try again, at least the leaks are mostly sealed at this point. They've been a ****** to track down.

Huh, all the barns I've seen are either red or natural, weathered cedar... I like the blue with the brown. I've had good luck with the TOTL Behr exterior paint. It dries fast enough that getting some rain later in the day after it was painted didn't cause any issues. IIRC, it rained on me around 3 hours after painting our front door five years ago. The paint has held up and is just now starting to fade. The door faces due west so it just bakes in the afternoon sun.

Skylights... driving men to drink for decades.

I love them, but eventually they all leak.

Kev, I so hear you. This has been the wettest summer I can ever remember. I didn't get one week off from cutting the lawn, it was green all summer.

BMF, the barn and the duck house are the opposite of what we want the house to be. SWMBO bought the paint, I just slap it on. Maybe this weekend I can finish the paint. I need to get the motor in the S'crew this weekend in order to have floor space for the conflab next weekend. Gonna be interesting.

Ah cool, that will look really good when the house is painted. I want my future detached garage to be disguised as a barn. I love the way they look when solid sliding doors cover traditional garage doors. I've seen the man doors and windows covered the same way and it all looks so good to me. Might take a little extra time to open everything, but I like the added security it adds as well.

We'll be moving to The Region (NW Indiana outside Chicago) in 4 years and my wife is adamant that she get an attached garage and I have a separate, detached garage for my "stuff".

BF, I wish we had an attached garage, or the layout of the house was conducive to adding one. I hope the 4 years passes easily.

I did finish the soffits and fascia on the shop sides that show. I also finished caulking the shop. The conflab happened without putting the motor in the S’crew. But I did get it in the hole. Hopefully tonight I’ll get it bolted in. I have a few more things to do outside before the weather turns cold. I guess I missed another deadline. On the plus side, I can see floor and benchtop in the shop now.

The day before the conflab, we had a storm BLOW through. It took some siding off. Also found the mouse hole. Siding put back up. I hope next summer I can actually fix the siding properly. Add it to the list.

Kirk, that mouse hole looks like the perfect size for a utility knife blade embedded on edge. Perfect "come on in" for their skinny head and fat behind.

Looks like you're dodging the snow. Holland, MI had the same weather we had today... Coworkers in Chicago and WI were getting snow. :bounce:

I think the 4 years is going to go by quickly... We have 2 years of projects planned for the house already. I've been busy the past few weeks in the LR painting. Should be done this weekend. Then the DR is next before Thanksgiving.

Our 3 hens have killed all the mice. They discovered that mice are fun to hunt and eat. I haven't seen any evidence of mice in almost 2 years now.
