Shhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our Saturn is one of those as well. It had been sitting on campus for 20 years before I got it. But I didn't take the chance. I bought a wrecked Saturn and titled the school Saturn as the wreck. I just hope no one ever looks at the VIN tag.
Mum's the word.....;)

A quick repair I did over the weekend. My old Cman sabre saw stripped the blade clamp bolt a while ago. My better half said let's just buy a new one. So we got a Bosch with a quick change clamp. The issue is that the head doesn't pivot. We needed to cut a hole between the floor joists to the outside, for the bathroom vent. The C'man has a pivoting head, so drill and tap to the next size up set screw, and viola', we're rocking.

Good job!
It's alot more satisfying for me when I am able to repair something like that rather than getting another.
Are you returning the Bosch?

So I teased you a post or two ago. There has been incremental progress on the '52.

'03 6bt.jpg

The first pic is BRAND NEW Belltech drop spindles for the front suspension. I placed my order for a ThorBros 2" 4-link rear suspension kit. I also bought a running "core" powertrain. It's an '03 6BT and 2wd trans. I got a bit of sticker shock on the price for a rebuild/power bump. Guestimates are about $35-$40K for a 1100lb-ft engine and appropriate trans. I was expecting literally half that.

No, we've had the Bosch a couple of years now. The Bosch will stay in the house, the C'man will stay in the shop.

It’s nice when you have tools to do a job. Time to fire up the lathe. My wife needed to raise the drain for the shower up about one inch. Problem was the elbow was the right OD and a inside coupler wouldn’t allow the shower to sit as low as she wanted. So I turned off the OD step on the coupler, and shortened it so the 2” pipe would sit tight to the elbow.shower adaptor.jpg

Nice job on the PVC, I haven't used my lathe in a while, you are making me want to use it for something, anything...

The 6BTs and 4BTs have been commanding dumb money, I have several now, I think I need three total. I also have a couple 8.3s

This one has 300k miles and ran when it was pulled. I paid $1500 for it and the trans. It's very complete, but to me, its still just a core for a rebuild. I'd love to find a p-pump one with about 150k on it for the Girlfriend, but I don't believe in Santa, and I doubt I'll ever win the lotto.

The reason I’ve been slow to get things done is my daughter’s Equinox has a bad case of Michigan Cancer. I found the rust after I had started installing the new front struts. Also had to replace the evap and fuel line. Then I tackled the worst of the rust. The left rear corner of the engine cradle rotted out, so I patched it as best I could without removing anything. Pretty difficult when you can’t get through the rust to good base metal. Hopefully this gets her another year.

I hate the rust we get in Michigan.

I’m vacationing in California right now, and it is so cool to see the 20 , 30, and 40 year old vehicles still being used that are in good shape.

But the big win was replacing the canister valve under the truck. I was able to reuse the hoses. It was a huge fight, but I won in the end. Another one bites the dust, stuck at 6 more to go. Fortunately, they’re either cosmetic (the headliner in the Orphan, paint on the Sonic front clip), or not vital for operation (adding cruise to the Orphan, fixing the AC on the pickup). Then it’s on to a bulldozer, tractor, and trailers.

And that concluded the "fun" from last weekend. On the bright side, we had the whole fam damily (at least those who are "local") over for Easter. Kind of nice having a house full of guests for a few hours.

I made a bunch of little chips on the vehicle list.....................and then things took two steps back. ABS codes on the truck, and evap codes on the Sonic. It's to the point it's comical.

I did something silly/crazy/stupid. I bought this over the past weekend. A friend told me about this, that it had been in storage for the last 5 years. I paid a reasonable price, $2000 for it on my assumption that it wouldn’t take much to get it up and running. You know what they say about assuming. Yeah, new plugs, a battery, a healthy dose of starting fluid, and nothing. Sigh.

Harley Kirk,
I'm so proud

It's no Harley, just a decent Honda Shadow
Remind me to never buy a blue project vehicle :lol_hitti

Nice looking bike! Have you had one before?

Yeah, about that color, hmmmmmm.

Yeah, I've had bikes before. Never a Honda, just Suzies. This is almost 10 times more than I've ever paid for a bike. I paid $250 for the last one (GS550L) and rode it for about 10 years and about 30,000 miles. Did a lot of small custom touches to it, hidden wires, Headwinds headlight, 750 front end........0516002208.jpg0516002209.jpg07-16-09_2040.jpg

No snow this morning. It was actually warmer this morning at 6 than it was 12 hours earlier. And it was super light, to the point that if you weren't stopped, and paying close attention, you wouldn't have seen it.

And Strouty, we know each other's stance on the white stuff, but this time of year, I want temps much higher than 30*F. OUr temps are half what they were over the weekend. Sigh
