All in all, I think we were pretty lucky. O'Reilly's had all the parts in stock and the repairs were pretty simple, and not unexpected on cars that have over 200,000 miles on them.Wow Kirk!
If it wasn't for bad luck, you wouldn't have any luck at all.

Thanks Jon.Kirk,
I think it's really cool you're doing Sick Week!![]()
I'll go over it tomorrow evening, then back across Thrusday morning. Are you meaning you took the bike over the Mackinac bridge? Yeah I'd say you have a right to be nervous doing that lol. That was an experience crossing it in a pickup, don't think I'd do it in a bike.
Also, TIL that bikes use belts instead of chain drives. Or is that just model specific?
It's a Sportster engine in those bikes so the belt drive is part of the Harley family. Are you meaning you took the bike over the Mackinac bridge? Yeah I'd say you have a right to be nervous doing that lol. That was an experience crossing it in a pickup, don't think I'd do it in a bike.

Had to look it up, personally not a fan of metal bridge decks on a motorcycle. Looks like there is asphalt/concrete lane, but 4 miles of bridge would up my anxiety levels a bunch. Thanks Jon.

on a dual sport with full knobbiesThe only time it's worse, is at night in the rain with no rain gear! More wiggling than spaghetti noodle a sphinxter muscle can hold!

It is sitting way high and way back, but I didn't really fell much difference in the way it handled. I would guess that everything weighed less than 75lbs, but that's me guessing. And we did hustle through a couple of nice sweepers. My condolences to you and yours.
Also, to my (untrained) eye it looks like your pack is hanging way back. Does that negatively affect the handling? Or is it just kinda similar to having a passenger?
