Hey xtremek,
I might have and idea for the clamp. I will do my best to explain.
Drill holes in the stock attached to the bench every ten inches or so. Straight through the stock and top. Embed a nut in each hole and weld in flush with the top of the stock.
Get a long piece of flat stock and drill through in the same position as the holes in the table stock. Now simply drop a hex bolt through and tighten down. The number of bolts used depending on the width of stock you are bending / holding.
Sorry if that doesn't make much sense. Here's a badly drawn pic to explain:
Sorry for the poor explanatory and drawing skills.
Niels
Edit: just realized using a piece of angle stock for the top retaining clamp bar might give crisper 90 degree bends and would have significantly less flex and holding power than flat stock.

I'm glad I'm good for something. Make sure you start a thread so we can follow along with your fun.

My parents heated our house with wood when I was growing up, so my dad cured me of that. That and animals. But when my wife says she wants ducks, what's a hubby to do
. I'll admit I didn't put up a fight
, though I did put my foot down when it came to hogs and horses.
