Santa was very good to me. My wife knew I would never buy a TIG for myself, let alone a new one. Now I needed a cart. Time to add onto the existing fishtank stand/MIG cart. In typical Butthead MaGoo, every single penny was spared.

nice maybe even a coat of paint for that cart?

Very cool, a new MIG from a very good wife for sure. But I also see room down below on the cart for that Plasma cutter yet.

You were reading my mind. But I'm trying to figure out if it would be that much faster than my current tools to make it worth the extra cost.

I’m thinking a cool tig welded SS cart.

Not this old man. I try to take good care of my tools, but they get used and abused. No, I actually love the old fishtank stand. A friend gave it to me when I was homeless and going to school. She was surprised at how happy I was to get it, and even more so when I showed her what I had done with it.

Nice score on the tig rig. Isn't it great to have a wife that understands, they are a rare thing.

You're right. I've been fairly fortunate that way. All of my significant others have at least passively supported my car hobby. Probably because in the end, they know that they'll benefit too.

The idiot I am left the tank valves open and they both drained out. And yes the torch valves were closed.

There's no worse feeling than when your frustrated with something and the thought of turning it into a pile of molten steel has brought you temporarily back from the abyss, only to find the tanks are empty. :FIREdevil

That would ruin his image, can't have that......

 More like I have bigger fish to fry. Too many other things going on.

What I get from these quotes is,

some Idiot with a Image problem has Bigger Fish to fry with other things going on?

am I reading that correct?:D

keep on keeping on Xtremek!

That's exactly what I did. I was shocked at how badly that flange bent.

That is very therapeutic as well! Though with my luck I'd probably break something that I don't want broken. :lol_hitti

This past Saturday, my BiL needed to be moved out of the family estate, or face a $1500 charge from the new owners. Friday night he was busy past midnight trying to get his cat out from its hiding place. I got to his place a little before 10. So I started filling his trailer he had left in the shop. Around 11:30 my old man (he’s almost 81) shows up. Together, he and I were able to pack his entire shop onto the BiL’s trailer, minus one floor jack and one chair. By the time the BiL showed up around 2:00 we were ready to start on the garage. We finished loading that into my truck and trailer around 4:30, and unloading that by 6:30. Talk about a long one.

It was very busy. I watched my Pops work, and I got worried, really worried. He was picking stuff up that weighed 50-60lbs, from the floor. Not something an 80 some year old man should be doing for hours at a time. Just glad that's behind us.

That sounds like my grandfather. He probably shouldn't be doing it and he will keep going until he hurts himself, but you better have an exit plan from the immediate area if you dare bring it up. :lol_hitti

Good to hear you got it done. Helping other people move has to be one of the worst things to do.

FWIW, the GF has been put on pause for the past week due to foul language. Yes, that nasty 4 letter word,....................WORK. I have most of the stock I need to finish the next step, so hopefully I can get that done Saturday. DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH.

just be glad you only had to load up and unload you dont have to resort and figure out where its all going to be at for next 6 months.

Heck I moved 10 years ago and still have not found a pair of Jack Stands that lived under the old wood stove at my town garage. Knew right where they were and still have not found them!

My Old Man isn't quite that bad, he just wants to muscle everything instead of looking for a less labor intensive way. The BiL was fairly ready for this, so it wasn't too bad.

The really nice thing about this was we didn't touch his trailer to unload, just backed it into his storage unit and shut the door.

It's a two way street. The fun part is when my hobbies intersect hers. It's really fun to fab stuff she needs.

Turning blue here, glad its Saturday!

I completely understand. I only remember one snow when we lived in Nashville (5yrs). It was fun because my dad comes from Canada where they're used to the stuff. I remember watching cars spin out in every direction, while he just drove the pickup (2wd) like it was a dry summer day.

It’s been a while since there was an update on the Girlfriend. She’s getting really close to being gooseneck compatible. I got the clippers out and cut her back corner extensions off. I know, lame joke. The sheet metal on the floor of the box was trashed, and I happened to have a small piece of tin laying around to tidy up a corner a little. Maybe next summer I can finish making the box presentable.

Got the holes drilled through the box guides and the box frame. It took a lot of playing with shims to get everything to line up, since the Girlfriend’s frame has some scoliosis. Holes in the guides are 1” and the box frame are 1¼” (so I can put sleeves in to help spread the load). I used the holes in the guides as a pilot for the holesaw, but it didn’t line up. Nothing a die grinder and burr didn’t fix. It’s getting close, braces, squirt some paint on the parts, reassemble, and we’ll be pulling 5th wheels and goosenecks. Hopefully next weekend.

Last weekend I had an incident. As I opened the door to the shop, I heard a noise, looked over to the far wall just in time to watch a cabinet and shelf fall off the wall. The lid to the Cman box got a dent, and a drawer slide on the Snap On box got bent. I was able straighten the slide. Not much else was damaged. Dodged a big bullet, but it did get me to do more purging.

Truck looks good. Bringing it back from the edge of scrap has to feel great. The pics in Spring of it working hard are going to be epic.

As for purging, I have been halfheartedly been doing a bit of it off and on the last month or two. I can fill the trash bin almost every week, but it never really shows improvement. I would need to get rid of a couple vehicles to show real progress, but I'm still too attached at the moment.
I did get tired of the gridlock this winter, so I spent Saturday rearranging a couple vehicles. That was a workout using a ***-along to yank them around and roll them by hand. I now have a plan for keeping occupied the rest of the winter.

Truck is looking good. In the last pic of the girlfriend you posted, it looks like a sliding pin setup?

Just be glad you weren't right underneath that shelf when it fell. If it dented metal I'm guessing it would have hurt.

We love progress! Not sure if this would work or not, but could you beef up those slide locks and use them to also hold mud flaps? Looks like it would be an easy way to protect the hydraulic pump from the mud.

I hope the GF will be pulling her weight this spring, cause the wife and I have got a lot lined up for her. Trips pulling a 5thwheel/travel trailer, dozens of loads being hauled.

I had already started purging my steel stock, so this wasn't completely a bad thing. And I did purge the Trailblazer, so the fleet did shrink. I'd love to see it shrink by about 2 more.

Kirk,
Good work on the truck.

Thank you sir. I don't think it's as high a quality as your work, but it should be highly functional.

Think monster bolt latch, one for each side. And you're right, if I had been on that side of the shop, there would have been at least few bruises.

Strouty, you're reading my mind. The brackets that will hold the bolt latches will also hang mudflaps. The pump is going to move inboard, so that I can add a right side fuel tank. I need more than a hundred mile range.

I made some more progress over the weekend making the brackets to hold the dump box latches. I would have had them almost finished, but Robin wanted company when she (this is your que Uncle Willie) went to the store.

Of course, the voices in my head won’t let me do a simple version. Drilled a bunch of holes and played connect the dots with the angle grinder. Just need to clean up the “holes”, and then I can weld the bolts to the brackets.
