Interesting, does it have a strange odor like it’s cousin?

I'm pretty sure it does. I know CBD plants do. You don't want to smoke it though, extremely low levels of THC. If your crop tests higher than 0.3%, the Feds drop by to make sure you burn your entire field. Current weed crops are about 15-20%.

That’s a lot of seed. What’s size it the bag and how much per bag?
Looks like she has a nice plot started.

I was more curious about ignorant people not knowing and either trying to steal it or to turn you in to the fuzz. I am more of a rum and cola type than a smoke it type. Last time I had an actual smoke was New Year's Eve 2000 ish.... before that it was mid 90s in high school. Never really did much for me, pretty glad that it didn't, lots of old friends traveled down that path and I am not really friends with them anymore. :(

It is very interesting, thanks for sharing what you are doing.

They were 40# bags and cost about $70 a bag. I'm guessing it's about 40# an acre.

You can turn me in, I don't care.:lol_hitti In order to grow industrial hemp(or CBD stuff), we both had to get our fingerprints put on file with the FBI, pay out $1250 for a yearly growers license, and another $1000+ for a yearly processing license, give them GPS coordinates of the plots, plus register with the state. So the law already knows exactly what we're doing. But you're right, especially for the CBD stuff (those plants are short and bushy). I would think the idiots would figure out this isn't weed, when the stalks are over 8' tall, but you never know.

Couple dudes driving by after smoking some cheap weed.

“Wow man, look at those plants, they must be 10’ tall”
“I bet we get higher on those”
“Let’s go get a hacksaw, we only need one”
“Think it’ll fit in the Kia?”

I worked for the PD when I was in Illinois and the DEA would call on occasion when they would find a field. We would go help cut and burn it. They found two acres once that was within 300 feet of two truck terminals that I was at almost daily. The plants were seven ft. tall. It took almost all day to cut. I was using a troy built sickle bar mower with four guys flanking me catching plants. I cant stand the smell.

Yeah, these are supposed to get +8' tall. I'm just hoping this doesn't get too hot. 0.3% is super weak.

So you can tell by my comments that I know nothing about marijuana. I didn't know it too got pretty tall. I guess that's part of being a tea totter.

The next piece of the puzzle is home. It’s a home built and a little on the lightweight side, but it was the best bang for the buck I could find after months of looking. Now that it’s home, I’ll be able to redo the tailgate and box sides on the Girlfriend. I need to shorten the tailgate 4 ½” and trim 2 inches off of the wood sides. On the trailer I need to swap the hitch from a 5th wheel to a gooseneck, and I want to put a 6’ beavertail on it. That will give us a 30’ trailer and be able to load our vehicles on it.

Ties into what I have always said: most trucks don't start to get really worked hard until their 3rd or 4th owner!

If there's a truck in our family, it gets worked hard. It's another tool in the box of many tools.

I like you trailer and your vision. Are you going to put a set of bed locks on the front of the dump bed?

Thank you HJ. And I already did. Kind of proud of the setup, even though they're nothing more than a pair of 1" gate latches. I got to use the mill, lathe, angle grinder, and the MIG, which is always a bonus

That's a nice looking trailer Kirk.

Rare to see anything like that here. Just the odd 5th wheeler horse float or van for those that have managed to score a US truck to haul them around with.

Thank you, Sir. Interesting, because in my neighborhood this will be the 4th or 5th gooseneck, well over a dozen 4'x8' (120x240cm) or larger single axle trailers, and probably at least a half a dozen 6'x18' ish (180x550cm) tandem axle trailers. Then throw in a couple large (also gooseneck) horse/livestock trailers, and a handful of van/enclosed trailers. I would say that 3/4 of my neighbors have trailers, maybe more.

Very cool, I remember now that you did do that a while back. Had an old man moment.

I was going to tell you something, but I forgot what it was.:dunno: ;)

That trailer is the perfect height for your setup. Trailers seem to be doing stupid money right now, no fun when you need one. :(

Sorry, I'm getting the hang of the new format. S, most goosenecks are fine for the reach in height, it's the actual ball/coupler height that doesn't line up. And you're right about prices. There's very little for between $2k-$10k. What's under $2k, is usually poorly home built, and completely beat up. This was $4k, is home built out of a camper chassis, but everything seems to be in decent condition

And on some more exciting news, SWMBO has hemp sprouting. She’s very relieved. The information on this stuff is so scarce, the germination period for this was said to be 2 days, or 2 weeks, depending on who you talked to. My guess is that we’re one of the first 3 people in the statesprouts 1.jpg to plant any actual crop. We hope to get about 2 total acres in this year.

What's the capacity of your new trailer X?

Please don't take the following comment the wrong way but I'm a little concerned about the stand of Hemp your going to have. That picture looks to be a pretty thick seeding rate on narrow rows. And if you say it could grow to 8', that makes me think it will lodge like crazy. But I've never been around hemp so it could be totally fine too.

I think the trailer's good to about 8k lbs (3600kg).

As far as the hemp spacing, you're right JGG, it's very tight. A good stand of industrial hemp will choke out all of the weeds due to a lack of sunlight making it to the ground. We were told 6" spacing between rows and 40# an acre. We'll find out come this fall.

Strouty, I didn't think you smoked the seeds and stems. But we've already shown I know nothing about weed.🤪

The haul has proven to be very nice indeed. Clean the carb, new primer bulb, and three screws for the guard will give me a nice Echo weed whip to sell. New fuel line and unloader manifold to replace the one that cracked when it froze, has given me a power washer. The new manifold has a pinhole leak, so when I mix up the JB for the trimmer, I’ll throw some on the manifold. I still have to get a new bottom, new tailgate, reinforce the tongue, and order an actuator for the garden cart.1621965832170.png

You said seedlings, not seeds. Guess I should slow down when I read. DUH.

Phew, I thought I typed something that went over my own head!

Sounds like that was a good haul, minimal repairs, maximum success.

I too have enough trouble without adding any chemicals to my body. Damn sugar does enough damage. ;)

I tried typing over my head once. I dislocated my shoulder.
