On other fronts, Robin got me a modular shelf system for Christmas to help replace what collapsed back last summer. I wanted another cabinet to fill in the hole. This is my attempt at cabinet making using basic electric hand tools. And of course, every possible expense was spared in the making of the cabinet. All wood and urethane was what we have/had on hand. I did break down and bought 4 hinges for the doors.

A friend had a BIG 45ish year old horse barn collapse. I took half of the good siding (cedar) and left them the other half. Did a quick power wash and sand with a palm sander, then threw it up. One wall is completely covered in it, two walls have it 4' up (top will end up drywall). Still ended up selling almost half of what I brought home.

Just so you understand my aversion to the mention of a certain construction aggregates, here’s a picture of one of the offending holes. This started out 2’ wide and 4’ deep and in this picture it’s the opposite. After quite a bit of hand digging, the dimensions were the same (vertical and horizontal), only to come out the next day to find more had fallen in. Half of the 23 holes were like this.

Here’s a pic of the cabinet about 95% done. Since the doors are only 1/4”, the screws stick out. I’ll end up using some machine screws and nuts to finish this project. And no, I’m not going to finish sand it, I’ve got more important things to do, like insulation and fleet repairs.
