couple of pics of my portable pulling solution. Warn ATV 2500 Winch with baseplate and roller fairlead. Heavy Duty Rocker Switch and old set of Jump Pack cable ends. Base Plate anchor loop with Hook. It works pretty nice set this up and then run the Jump Pack ends to a battery and then hold the rocker switch and have easy control of the on/off of the winch pull.

Could just run cables from the winch and just clamp on/off on the battery for control but the Rocker makes it more user friendly. This Pulling winch.jpgPulling Winch 2.jpg

Hey, folks. Been either busy or sick. Trying to catch up on homework (taking an Intro Cad (SolidEdge) class, cleaning up a couple of hot part delivery messes at work, or having a very bad reaction to the second Shingles vaccine shot. Right now trying to start writing the Codebusters tests for Region Science Olympiad. Been trying to drop in on a couple of threads a day, keep up with the heavy poster's, Strouty, Uncle Willie, and HJ so I don't get buried, and a couple of occasionals. Anyway, back to the music (Sweet, the Hu, and maybe the Kooks or Gabrielle Cohen.

I'm fine guys, just wiped out for Wednesday and Thursday. Still wrestling with work issues. I have to micro manage some things, and I **** at it.

Oh and Sub, the neighbor's barn has electricity in each stall, so I'm thinking two small 120v winches will be easier to deal with, especially for two old farts

For the Heavy Poster's No offense ment by my comment.

I far from the slimest fellow myself.

Kirk the 110 winch's work great as well provide you have power. I used one a few times and they are great as well. I just had the ATV winch as a spare and rather than it sitting on the shelf collecting dust I made it a usable item to have around. If I blow out a winch on a ATV I just wanted to have a good working unit I could put on the ATV and keep on a going. Though Warn winch's seem to be made to last as I have had very few problems with them and now I have 2 more Warn winch's on the shelf Good deal's came up for them and they was close by so I picked them up. Well 1 is marked for going on a snow plow and being able to power angle the plow from the seat of the ATV. Long term project.

Kirk what brand pull winch you thinking of getting? The one I used was a milwaukee? I want to say it was red and my uncle who had it was big in milwaukee tools so thinking it was that brand but it was like 15 years ago now so who know's. Was also used for pulling up Dear to be hung for butchering processing in the front utility room of the barn for a few years.

Sub, if we get them, it'll probably be whatever is cheap. You figure a horse weighs about 1,200lbs (I think these are American Quarter horses)and we'll need two of them, so they'll never be loaded heavy. Using the come-alongs wasn't heavy work, just awkward and slow.

HJ, I have a working vacation roughed in. Once the f-150 is done and proven itself reliable, I want to take it and tow the Sonic down to my boy's house to get their new body panels painted. Front clip and rear bumper on the Sonic, grill surround and rollpan on her truck. And maybe a couple of trips to some junkyards for the '52 parts.
