AC cooling weaker when cool outside

Yesterday around 65 outside and inside I set it to 60 degrees target on the mini split. To be honest it seems the air is not too cold and seems to take a long time to cool those few degrees. I thought something is broken. but I think the car works similar except the car always have engine heat around it.

Today it is 75 and easily goes to 59. It cools nicely and hit the target on time.

I know it needs some heat to for the freon to vaporize more effeciently. But is 60s really not suitable to turn on the mini split ? I read something about don't test run traditional AC systems if it is not over 65 degrees.

should I forget using the AC when in cool weather ? I was looking forward to use the dehumidify which usually rains here when in winter.

Look up the specs for your equipment. It will tell you the operating range for AC and Heat Pump if you have that option. Setting for 60 just to dehumidify seems over kill to me. You'll have to again look, but most mini splits have a dehumidify setting.

Yes it does have a humidify mode. I am not sure of the cooling spec, only btu for heat at 17 and 47. Anyway it worked really good today I guess things perform better when the outside is a bit warmer.

I had a lady who wanted me to check her ac this past saturday when it topped out around 60.
She couldnt seem to understand why I told her to call me back this week once it gets above 70 again.

The unit may have a low ambient cutoff, meaning it might think it's too cold outside to be running A/C. Also, it might be undercharged which would result in an icing condition in lower temperatures.
