My reading of the NEC is that an AC disconnect just needs to be "readily accessible" and less than 2 meters from ground.
You can see the pad in the picture. I can't go further to left as there is a 5' from property line city requirement for the outdoor unit.
The manufacturer recommends (since the cord exits from ride side of outdoor unit) that the disconnect be placed just to the right and just above the unit. Unit is 32" wide and 22" high.
So just to the right puts it underneath the window (which does not open). There is an 8" roof overhang plus 4" gutter overhang.
