Visegrips make great clamps for projects where you need a lot of clamps to even out the pressure using visegrips and strips of wood or metal.

What's the difference in them, they all look the same.

What did you really expect? It's been a while since they were still producing them stateside.

I personally haven't noticed a huge difference in quality between the USA-ones I own and the imported ones I've used, but I don't use them very often.

Hey t100, a lot of fabricating and metal work here as well. I only have the old USA ones, (from Dad and now yard sales b/c I try to stretch dollars). That being said, I picked up $50 worth of the new ones today just for shiggles, extras, backup, whatever.

What/how/when do you notice the difference? Just watching Zero Dark Thirty I was messing with them and they do have some slop and sometimes close to a mm off on jaws lining up. Obviously, this is poor quality, but will they bend, pop loose, or ???

Would you trust them for a vehicle roadside repair box? (I always put my best tools in the vehicle b/c when stuck in the middle of God-knows-where, I do not want inferior tools to fail me)

Also, I'm going to grind the teeth off at least one of the straight jaw pairs and turn them into smooth jaw. For those times when clamping finished products together etc.

Picked up a few last night. Has anyone been able to get Lowes to price match? I asked them about it yesterday and they acted like I was an idiot and that it "must have been a different brand". Showed them the price online, wouldnt match it as it has to be "in store" advised them I will call Ace and the manager can tell them the price, wouldnt go for that either. Gonna take my receipt from last night with a photo of the item and price and see what happens.

If you click on the shipping tab in the add it says "This item can be shipped to your home or an Ace store for FREE"...........has anyone had them shipped to their home? The closest Ace store to me is 40 miles away........would cancel out any savings to drive and pick them up at the store for me.

Sharkytm............I see what was confusing me between those two. The pics for both of them (straight and curved) are of the same set of vice grips (7R). I wonder if that is a mistake by Ace or are you actually getting 2 of the same thing?

The part numbers are different so I would not be too worried about the web page picture.

And they are supposed to beat the price by 10% as well. I was getting some welding tips and they were 1 cent cheaper at home depot but they beat that by 10%. Saved 90 cents.

Just to let you guys know, I picked up 3 different types when I was in Ace. All 5 bucks. I believe they were

7cr=curved
7r=straight
7wr=straight with wire cutter

My Ace also had the Irwin jab saw-drywall saw-keyhole saw- for 5 bucks...usually like 14. Picked one up, cause ****...it was 5 bucks.

Just picked up 2 straight and 2 with cutters from the local ACE. Those are the only two in ther e flier.

I know on line the have the 7CR you can order but there not in there flier.

Can some one who bought the 7CR online post a picture of them as the are two different styles of these one with regular curved jaws and one with more pernounced curved jaws that almost become flat we're they would grip a nut or bolt. See the difference below
