Reaching out to the GJ crowd once again.
want to add a chain hoist to an overhead door at the volunteer warehouse to make it easier for the volunteers to open it up. it's 12'wide by 12' high, fairly well balanced. probably could have a 1/4 or 1/2 turn on the spring but it would still be a chore for some of the older folks to open & close.
I do have a chain hoist that would fit the shaft , but I was wondering about the spring tension. does the door need to be "heavy" so the cables don't get loose? I know some doors have pusher springs on them to get them moving. I don't have any pusher or helper springs.
any tips or advise appreciated .
