my 17x24 basement shop has 4 outlets. that's it. obviously not enough.
the basement is constructed of block, filled with concrete and rebar.
it has a gcfi installed, and all the wires are currently run through pvc conduit. I have no idea if its up to code or not, but it has served me well for the last 10 years of living here.
I just want to add more outlets.
in my researching, I seem to just be confusing myself more and more. apparently I need to run thhn, in the proper gauge for my 20 amp circuit breakers, (which I think is 12 gauge?) but can also use romex in the same gauge as the pvc is only used to protect. (may be wrong, I've read WAY too much on this)
is it really this simple? just run the conduit, feed the wire through, connect, and run with it? im hoping to have a box every three feet or so, so excessive run lengths wont be an issue. also, just two plug in points in each box.
I've done tons of automotive electrical work, and replaced stuff in the house (fans, light switches, etc) but never done this kind of thing. cant afford an electrician, so its going to be me doing it and learning as I go. I figure if I can wire a fuel injection setup from c]scratch, I should be able to add an outlet or 20.
