OK, long story short - fixing up some dspo 'renos'...

Need to add a stud, so I can properly support a small section of floor (cubbyhole for shoes at front door - which sticks into my daughters second useless closet). The current floor is supported by finishing nails through plywood into drywall...:eyecrazy: yeah not even some pl to glue it...

Anywho, I've got the top 30" of closet opened for reframing this cubbyhole, but really didn't want to rip the whole wall open, and have to fix all the drywall (going to be doing a built in bookshelf behind/below in the closet)

I can't angle/twist the stud in through the current opening, wondering if there's a trick/technique to do this without having to completely open up this wall...

Any ideas? Or should I just start opening up a wall?

Want to get the stud right about where that drywall is cut, so I can support the drywall and get a 2x4 support under to properly support this before we tile...

Yeah, I've considered that, but I also take issue with a 30" wall with no studs... and it will make for a stronger attachment once I start on the built-in...

Can you get two or more shorter pieces in?
If it is 8' total put a 3 and 5 then PL400 and screw another 3 and 5 in the opposite configuration so the joints overlap 2'.

Could also block it back to the corner.

Yep.. This would work. You could also **** the studs together and fish-plate them with 1x4 using pl400 and clamps for 24 hours.

Andy, your not that far from the corner..... Take the sheet rock off to the corner and do it right, sounds like there is enough cobbling going on already.
