Well, now that we've had 3-4 pretty good rains since my building has been up, I finally got some seamless rain gutters installed yesterday. I didn't get any pictures yet--I'll try to get some this afternoon. Saved a ton getting the seamless ones installed over buying them with the building.

Photos of the new rain gutters. Once again, I'm happy I went with the seamless gutters. They look much nicer then the gutters that you can order with the building.

It's a Metallic Steel Building. The cost for the building itself, including full insulation, ridge vents, roll up doors and the walk in doors was right around $25k.

Looks great, how about some detailed interior shots?

Not much to see inside--besides all of my stuff. I'll see what I can come up with though.

Congrats on such a nice setup. I like Taft, nice and peaceful.

If you don't mind: Who's doing the electrical? I'm a few miles east of you (Bako) and am looking to get my main house panel upgraded to a 200A plus some stubs out for the shop areas/pasture.

Looking forward to more pics, esp. once you start the exterior lighting. Nice work!

I'll be doing the electrical myself. There's plenty of good contractors in Bakersfield though--McKee, Paveltich, Braun. My boss used to do quite a bit of side work, I'm not sure if he still does or not but I can ask him what he thinks if you're interested.

Any chance you have a link? Google search isn't pulling up much...

Also, as it turns out DoubleClutch earlier in this thread is my neighbor... o_O

The building looks great Adrien. What do you think of the quality of the Metallic Building? I realize that a lot depends on the workmanship of the builder. I am about to build a 52 x 50 in Arizona. I am talking with one builder who uses Metallic Buildings. I would also be interested in seeing some pictures of your electrical installation as that progresses, if you have time.

Thanks!

Well, I thought their website was www.bakersfieldbuilder.com, but it doesn't look like it's coming up. I found this instead. And this is the Metallic website. Also, you can try emailing [email protected].

The quality seems great to me. I don't have much to compare it too though--I didn't shop around for different brands. Pretty much the standard around here is Metallic and most of the contractors use them. Like you said, a lot of it depends on who's building it.

I'll definitely be posting updates as I go! As a matter of fact I purchased my first batch of lumber yesterday so I can frame in the corner where I'm going to put my load center.

Gotcha. Thanks much and yes, I'd be interested in seeing if he's doing side work. We're looking to do the work within the next couple of months depending on contractor availability.

BTW A belated Happy Thanksgiving to you and the rest of the Garage folks.

Put together a makeshift work bench for my new DeWalt DW718SP I picked up yesterday.

I'm curious about the lack of reo in the slab ...In Australia we use 3/8" Mesh the 3/8" is the wire size and the mesh is in about 6" squares. Then for heavier ratings the mesh becomes more dense. How do you get away with so little reo in the concrete ?

Rather than do the interior framing with wood......can anybody write about using metal studs ????? and firerock !!!!!

I don't think metal studs would have suited my needs very well.

Couldn't tell ya. I know diddily about concrete work. What I do know is that it meets the state and county regulations.
