Yup. Trailer axles are too far forward. I recall that the cg of the lift isn’t exactly in the center of the packaging either. The large, light weight reservoir is towards the front.

it would have helped your weight distribution issue with that trailer had you flipped the load end for end.

At least you made it home safely.

Yes, it is heavier at one end for sure. I made it about 3 blocks and went back to have them swap ends for me.

Haha, I was just glad the guy got it on the trailer. He drove the fork truck (that was too small) in the parking lot and picked the lift up at the garage door that is closed in the pic. So he had 3000# load that was 17’ long up in the air about 6’ high. His rear tires were floating nearly the whole way across the parking lot and a few times were a foot in the air o_O he actually got one of his coworkers to stand on the rear of the fork truck to add weight.

Got the lift setup and put the wife’s old Yukon on it as the expendable mule for the maiden lift. I’m not sure I’ll be able to get my truck high enough to change the oil standing straight up. May have to raise the lights above the joists instead of hanging under them. 12’ ceiling.

Have a question. With the lift empty and lowered the cables had slack. When I pulled the yuk on the lift (still all the way down) the lift seemed to lower under the weight of the truck an inch or so and the cables were tight with no slack. When I pulled the truck off the lift, the cables are still a little tight with very little slack. Is that normal or should the cables have an inch or two of slack unloaded and on the floor?

Wondering if maybe the lift hadn’t went ALL the way down until the weight of the truck was on it. Even though I’d ran it all the way down and up several times during install and cable adjustments. Maybe I have the cables adjusted a little too short?

My guess is the lift wasn’t fully down on the floor on your first drive-on. When lowering the lift onto the locks, if you hold the release lever a bit long, the cables will develop slack just from their horizontal weight, so maybe something similar happened. Nothing to be concerned about.

I notice that you are using the “safety plates” at the drive-on end of the runways. My installer told me those plates were added for ALI certification, and many users don’t like them because the ramps can shift away from the runways when loading/unloading. Without them, the vertical front lip of the ramp locks into the runway. This enables you to raise the ramps with the lift, and hit your head on them instead of tripping on them still left on the floor.;)

Yeah, thinking more about it last night, if the cables are tight with the lift all the way down, the hydraulic cylinder is at full extension and the cables are putting a load on it. I’m gonna readjust the cables to have slack at full down.

I can see where the flappers could move the ramps if not lined up right. I’ll probably mark the floor in some way to align the ramps in the right spot.

Agreed. It's normal to have a little slack in the cables with the runways on the floor. I would also recommend ditching those flaps so that you can key the ramps to the runways. Marking the floor for the ramps isn't going to keep them in place when you're driving on/off. Get in the habit of placing wheel chocks before raising (as it appears you're already doing).

I'm sure the cables will have some stretch and memory to pick up after being in the crate.

Resurrecting this thread- i really wanted a lif tall enough to park my truck underneath since its not my daily driver. my f250 tremor sits at 83.5 inches because of the stupid sunroof. Did any of you with the Advantage 9k or 11k add the extended locks that add an inch of clearance? I'm wondering if I could fabricate ones that add 1.5 inches, and use the .5 inch rubber pads to get enough clearance to park under. I'm leaning toward the 11k because its wider post to post just so that it's easier to pull in and out of. Appreciate any feedback or advice

Didn't get the lock extenders but just had an SS11000 installed last week. It's about 82 3/4 clearance. Not sure if my 18 f350 is going to clear it yet, they paved the following day. Hopefully this week I'll get a chance to check. I don't see 83.5 clearing.
