Top of garage door is buckled and top strut appears to be slightly damaged. Any advice on how to go about repairing this or should I seek a professional? I do not know the model garage door that I have.

I would take the panel loose from the rest of the door and try to straighten the parts.

torsion spring door call the pro's if you never done it before, could really hurt your self taking the tension off of door

and looking at the door might be time to replace.

I don't think he needs to take the tension off. The cables are attached to the bottom panel. A couple vise grips on the track on the lower section rollers so the door cant roll up. Unbolt the top panel and slide it up the track and back off the end. Then do what is necessary to bend the door back and reinstall. That's what I would do.

This is what I'd do. If you unbolt the rollers from the door you don't need to slide it off the track. It'll basically just fall off.

This^
But after lockjng the door down you could just unbolt the bottom row of hinges from the top panel then the top rollers and the panel will flip down.

Boy was I typing slow, plus stopped to get a drink...APEowner beat me to it!

Can you maybe go into a little further detail? Will the strut need to be replaced? I am not the best DIYer.

Ya I would get a new one. As far as bending the door back I think I would try putting the door on the floor (bent side up) and put 4x4's about 2 feet on either side of the bend and try jumping on the center where the bend is and see if you can get it to bend back straight. Might need two people if it doesn't bend easily. May have to put the 4x4's even farther out to get it to bend.

That happened to one of my doors. It's 18' wide and flimsy.

I just bolted 2" angle iron across the top, full width. The only thing I had to take apart was to top roller on either side.

If you can figure out who made the door you can go to a local dealer and just buy that section. I had to replace 2 sections one time on a nice Clopay that the wife backed into. Went to a local Clopay dealer and they just sold me the two appropriate sections.

Damage like that just needs to be bent back the other way. I would not think that a professional door installer would repair a garage door. You could try to buy just that one piece. Probably not cheap.

If you take it down of course it's easier, but still not "easy".

I have more questions than answers.
A pro won't try to bend it back.

2 things going on here that haven't been mentioned. 1 the strut was mounted in the wrong place for a top panel. 2 whatever you choose to do back off the down pressure adjustment. Clearly to high.
