Hello all,

Looking into getting an IR SS4L5. Can anyone help confirm the amp loads so we can wire it correctly?

startup amps 24.4
working amps 21.5

Believe SFA is Service Factor Amps, the 1.15 SF means it can deliver a little more power. I'd wire it with #10 and you'll need a magnetic starter.

startup amps 24.4, this is not going to be the instantaneous inrush, which would be a lot higher.
It will run at 21.4 until the pressure builds, then will rise to about 24.4 at full pressure.

# 10 should be good as long as your far from breaker box, if you want more info google "#10 wire capacity".

OP . . . since your motor plate indicates 5.0 HP, then you size it based on 5 HP.

Wire size by code is #8 NM-b (Romex) or #10 THHN (in conduit). A 30A breaker is normally fine with a 5HP single phase motor, but code allows up to 70A. If the compressor is more than 50 feet or out of sight of the breaker panel then a disconnect is required.

I imagine this is not a continuous duty application, but if it is, conductors need to be sized at least 125% of the FLC, per NEC 430.22.
