OK Now that my compressor is functioning I would like to know the best place to install the water separator/filter. Directly off the tank is the shut off valve, then comes the pressure regulator.Where is the best place to install this item? The line coming from the compressor is 3/4 then through the shutoff valve ,then it is reduced to 1/2 for regulator then it is reduced to 3/8th for the rest of the trip.Should I have to worry about vibration from the compressor?Should the filter be as far from the air source as possible? Thanks, Ken

A water separator should be down the line a bit, at least 10'. This allows the hot air to cool somewhat and the moisture to condense into water droplets and be captured. Putting it right off the compressor will not catch as much moisture.

The compressor is a Husky 60 gallon. The flexible line goes to the wall then up,across the wall then down to the connectors. All the blue line is 3/8 flexible tubing.

I plumbed a drop immediatly post air exit from my tank, then a 4' hose UPHILL to the filter/dryer.

Since this install, and not shown in the pics, I inserted a $4 HF "bubble filter/trap" inline in front of the DeVilbiss filter. Then I can change/drain the cheap part before needing to replace the (very expensive) DeVilb filter.
