EDIT : made my choice look here http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=334502

i have a nice pair of tanks 80/60 gal and 6.5hp compressor start motor with thermal over load protection button .

the current switch is 145on/175off .

the parts to refresh the compressor unit are as much as a new unit . but if I go new unit I would rather upgrade to a better unit.

I have a 80gal main tank and a 60 gal extra storage tank way down the line at the end for the few times I need the extra kick if I work at the end of the shop . the 60 gal is on a valve to *** needed use only not active all the time.

this is not a working shop just my private play pen .

i would like to just get a new unit and pop it in place of the old one .

any help / ideas / suggestions ?

1/4" air ratchet up to a 3/4 impact gun .

then blow gun to air board sander and hvlp spray gun .

maybe even smaller sand blast stuff .

was thinking mid teen cfm range at 120psi or so .

2 stage unit . like pressure lube system .

and fyi just clicked your web site and got 2 stopped worm/threats my security protection stopped .

Your sanding and hvlp would take roughly 15 cfm. The 3/4" impact can take more. I wouldn't go smaller than around 18 CFM.

About the only advantage you would get with a pressure lube pump would be if your compressor was installed on an uneven surface. Splash lube pumps, in my opinion, have less that can fail. As long as there is enough oil and the pump rmp is between min and max, you are good to go.

If you see a particular machine you are interested, shoot me an e-mail: [email protected] and I'll see what I can do for you.
