Air fittings, need some help decoding

Until recently, I was only aware of two types of air line fittings, Automotive and industrial. Now that I've read about type "M" and "P", I'm totally confused. I have the industrial type now, and would like to know if they are compatible with the type "M". Or better yet, is there a air fitting compatibility chart available somewhere? Thanks, John

what type of air line fittings are you referring to? quick disconnect type that go on the end of an air tool?
