Air tool oil

So I've always used Snap on oil for all my air tools but my Snap On guy is MIA most weeks. Is there anything magic about Snap On oil or will others do just fine? What are some other time tested alternatives?

Any air tool oil is fine, at least your oiling your tools. 90% of guys I've worked with never oil any of their air tools. I do prefer this lucas stuff, mainly because I get it for free though.

Most air tool oil (as in all oil) is produced by the same handful of companies. I usually buy the big bottle of air tool oil at Napa,and I have never had any lubrication related air tool faliures. I've even bought the Harbor Freight oil,it's one of the few USA made products I've ever found in there.

I heard this, marvel mystery air oil can mess up the seals inside air gun and ruins it.

I'd use SO oil, just to be safe and feel better

I just use good ole fashioned trans fluid. Save some from a ****** job at work and oil them up twice a week

My snap on far air rachet is stil;l going strong after 10 years due to this.

Delta Airlines has been lubing airtools with MMO for at least 40 years with no ill effects, good enough for me!

Someone from snapon power tools said that a certain version of the Marvel oil had been eating up the seals in a few tools.

Lucas makes some good air tool oil. The Blaster folks also make air tool conditioner which I like. I never had a problem with any brand of air tool oil too include the Marvel stuff.

MMO has been around for many many decades, I doubt either one damages seals. Not really much in it, pale oil, naptha and a few other odds and ends. Nothing that stands out as a seal sweller/killer.

when snap on tore the tool down the seals were impregnated and they contained marvel mystery oil. they have a lab that they send some of the parts to ( snap on lab ) and they said each one that was messed up contained a special version or marvel mystery oil. I havent seen the oil, but it was only out for a limited time....

that is a big part of air tool failure. running water through them and not oiling them after you use it, then it sits in your box over the weekend and in texas its hot cold hot cold and boom you have a little rust form on the inside and its down hill from there.

I use Senco air tool oil. Started buying it for my nail gun when I was framing houses. I bought a big bottle and haven't run out yet. It seems to work just fine. Before that I used some industrial stuff my dad would get a work, but now that he retired that source dried up.

I use Bostitch air tool oil. I opened a catalogue, and there it was. So i bought that one. No complaints so far, everything still works fine as it should. I use Castrol LM (Lithium-based) grease in the impact guns' hammer cases.

Just wondering, since im getting an aircat soon with the twin clutch and it says this on their website:

I used to use the PB blaster air tool conditioner, this stuff works fantastic if you have lots of water in your lines or you need to revive an old tool thats been neglected it will bring it back to life and clean it out. The last shop I worked in was terrible, my impact gun might as well been a squirt gun and of course no regulators on the compressor either so water+175psi= oiling 3+ times a day with PB.

I been using amflo air tool oil I found cheap at HF surprising its made in the usa, it works good. The snap on oil is good too but im too cheap. Back in my tire shop days we used MMO no problems and some other stuff called arctic freeze, the MMO was better, I knew an old timer that was all he used.

I always oil at the end of the day.

I little different additive package, but about the same as auto trans fluid.

I used Marvel for over a decade. After I ran out I switched over to Snap-on air tool oil for no other reason than it was quick and easy. I didn't even get an 1/8 through the bottle and the boss handed me a bottle of Lucas air tool oil. It's probably all in my head, but the Lucas seemed to help out a few of my tools...........plus it was free.
