I really want (not need... but want) a bigger tool box. My 1967 vintage MAC and MBC top and rollcab have served me well since I bought them new. But we all have a lot more stuff than we used to need so I now have one additional roll cab plus two top boxes and I still need more room... and organization.
The MAC tool guy repo'd a MATCO box... model 7525... last week. I told him I was looking for one but wouldn't have the scratch until mid-summer. He called me and drove over to my shop last week to tease me. It's what I've been looking for... 56" wide/25" deep with a stainless top. It's an Iron Eagle special graphics deal... kinda odd grey color but who cares... I quit buying with my eyes long ago.
The MAC dealer was owed a bunch of $$$... he didn't sell this box new but made a deal to let the guy keep the tools he sold 'em so he could keep working and took this box instead. I think that was pretty fair of him...
So now I have a dilemma... I wanted to pay cash but don't have it right now. I can give him a downstroke on the box and pay it off in a few months. He wants $2800.00 for it... retailed in '04 for just under $8000.00 (special edition... ho hum). Cash talks I'm sure... but I can't beat his credit terms, either.
There will be others available I'm sure. The Cornwell guy has one coming back soon... but without the stainless top which I really like...$2500.00 in a similar size.
Gotta do some thinking here...
