Alternate ramp design for Bendpak HD-9STX?

Let me start by stating I really like my HD-9STX overall. My garage is <22' deep. The lift is set in so the door can just close past the 36" steel ramps. The ramps hang downward to create a wheel stop when lifted.
I'm usually attentive and find myself ducking under the ramps to exit that doorway. The other day I was wearing a ballcap, head down, in a hurry and walked into the edge of the underside of a ramp. It dropped me to my knees. I started cursing (my natural reaction) and removed the cap to rub my head. The blood started running down my face and puddling on the floor. I managed to stop the bleeding (small impact that didn't even damage the hat but I'm glad I had it on!) and continue on with work.
Okay. Those ramps have got to go or be modified. I could remove them and rely solely on wheel chocks. This would allow me to move the lift closer to the opening and the ramps wouldn't impede closing the door. I could cut them in half and weld in a heavy hinge allowing me to fold them back upon themselves. I could then attach a swinging leg to hold the ramps in a horizonal position. I could spend stupid money on lightwieght aluminum ramps to ease placement, etc. Has anyone else dealt with this issue and resolved it in a unique way?

How about make ramps that are attached to the floor then take the ones you have and cut them to be about 10" long so they will lay over the ramps on the floor but otherwise will still operate the same as they do now

Remove them completely and use blocks or ramps that you set on the ground when you need them. Clamp a bracket to the end to prevent cars from rolling off.

Cut the floor our and make a ramp setup that goes into the ground. When the lift is up the ramp plate will be flush to the ground. When the lift is down it will apply force to a cam that will pop the ramp up so you can drive onto the lift.

Hang streamers from the corner of the ramps. Use red or orange
When you are walking with your head down you will see the streamers and your mind will say to avoid them like they are a post or other obstacle.

Attach padding to the sides of the ramp so it dosent hurt so much to run into them

Removed my ramps on my lift. Made new ones out of pre-fabbed stair tread and welded a leg on it.
