Did you call Vidmar for parts? I would try to keep it stock. One of my lista boxes has a hinged lock bar that is a royal pain as it can get in the way of drawers opening and closing.

This is not my box, but the exact same. On the left hand side you can see the lock. It just hinges over to prevent the drawers from opening. Most common in aviation and mobile setups. It's more for preventing drawers from opening and less about tool security.

Sorta jokingly serious -- ratchet strap.

Most people who can whip one off can also pop a lock in the same amout of time.

People who can't unlock a strap in 9 seconds? Well...they're pretty challenged anyway.

Probably not what you’re after, but this box I picked up today has an interesting locking setup. Two eye bolts. One top and one bottom. Looks like a chain can go through the handles and gets padlocked on either end. That is just a guess, as I did not get anything like that with it. Of course it’s aftermarket...

It’s ugly, but it looks like it works

Or a bar with a small padlock.

That hinged bar was actually designed to lock filing cabinets.

Perhaps, but that is OEM lista.

Edit: I will add, I don't think that is the most secure way to lock a box to prevent theft as they typically use a padlock through a hasp to lock the box. It is more so of a sure fire way to make sure the drawers can't open on their own with a lot of jostling. Hence you typically see them in mobile applications.

How about against a concrete wall and put a vehicle in front of it.

That’s exactly what they do where I work.
