YepHas anyone received the discounted Yost vise?
It "hums" because it doesn’t know the words to the song! That's the sound it makes when you turn it on.
So I think what will happen is that the air won't blow the melted metal out of the way as well. There was a definite difference between the 120V and 240V. If I remember tomorrow I'll hook up my small compressor and see what happens.I just received my Duratech plasma cutter. I’ve never used one before. If I run it on a 4 scfm compressor instead of the specified 6.5. Does current make a difference to the air requirement?
The air also keeps the tip cool.So I think what will happen is that the air won't blow the melted metal out of the way as well. There was a definite difference between the 120V and 240V. If I remember tomorrow I'll hook up my small compressor and see what happens.

Save yourself some headaches and order a few tips from the same maker. I've got two machines from different companies that take the same tip but one won't work well w/the knockoff tips while the other one does.
kind of. You're increasing your cutting capacity and/or speed by bumping the amperage so it needs more air to move more material and keep the tip cool. You're creating plasma so think of it like a waterjet, you need more mass/plasma for more cutting. Having said that, I've run mine on a rinky dinky compressor that's way undersized for what it's called and the only issue I've seen is the duty cycle of the compressor being annoying so less consistent cutting as it discharges. This Aussie/NZ guy has some good tips on plasma cutters:I just received my Duratech plasma cutter. I’ve never used one before. If I run it on a 4 scfm compressor instead of the specified 6.5. Just got an empty box from amazonjp yesterday. Order 6/9- box "delivered" 8-13...I ordered the 4725ZB from that exact link on 2/25/25 ($57.31). It finally got to me on 3/30/25. It was worth the wait. I think the prices trend towards lower when they are out of stock but due back soon. I seem to get my best Amazon pricing on stuff in that state.
Hooked up a 2.1 scfm compressor. It works fine for short amounts of time. I had the compressor at 120psi and the plasma at 80psi. I'm cutting 1.25" x3" channel. So I think what will happen is that the air won't blow the melted metal out of the way as well. There was a definite difference between the 120V and 240V. Be aware that its 2 minutes cutting, 8 minutes recovery. 20% duty cycle. For the price I'm not complaining, but I will look at duty cycle a lot closer in future.Hooked up a 2.1 scfm compressor. Still beats a hacksaw, I suppose.Be aware that its 2 minutes cutting, 8 minutes recovery. 20% duty cycle. For the price I'm not complaining, but I will look at duty cycle a lot closer in future.
My apologies, its 25% at 40amps.
More if you aren’t cutting at the full 40 amps, though. My apologies, its 25% at 40amps.
I'm running it at 40amps, 240V. So 25% is 2.5 minutes instead of 2 minutes. Still something to be aware of.
Best price in a couple of years.Eneloop AAA prices seem to have come way down. At one point they were over $3 per battery, but very recently dropped to about $2 each.
