I saw that, but was that the only price check ever? None of the 1 month, 3 month, 6 month tabs work if clicked.
Amazon also first listed the light in May 10, 2024.

Trying to understand how it actually works. Also if you search the AK16 light there really is nothing out there on it or other places offering it. There is another similar model D2 (18650 version) but different emitter and possibly other specs, but looks like same housing.

This is from an app called Keepa. It can be attached to Amazon so every time you look up a product the graph shows.

Thanks, dont use those sites and seeing that helps.
Camel was making me suspect its accuracy. Guess thats the proverbial Straw that broke the Camels back.
I'm sure those sites do a better job of tracking ME than prices.

For less than half that price, a similar "1000 lumen" flashlight can be had at Home Depot through this holiday season. The Husky light is powered by AAA batteries though (which is a plus for me...I don't like rechargeable)

You're comparing apples and orangatans. That husky light is a toy. It doesn't make anywhere close to 1,000 lumens, and certainly not for the 1.5 hours advertised. It simply can't running on 4 alkaline AAAs, even if it had a highly efficient LED and driver (which it doesn't).

In order to get close to the max efficiency for a common led, you would have to run those AAA's in a 2S2P configuration, which means 3 volts at a max of 2.5 amp hours. That's 7.5 watt hours of total energy. But the max discharge current of an alkaline AAA is about 500 mA (double that for 2 in parallel) so 1 amp max. That means max power of about 1 amp to the LED at a full charge voltage of 3 volts so about 3 watts. The most efficient leds available are about 250 lumens per watt, so assuming a very efficient LED and a driver pushing those batteries to their absolute max, you'll get 750 lumens (before factoring in all the practical efficiency losses).

The lumintop comes with a 5 Amp hour 21700 Li Ion (4.2 volts) . That's a theoretical max of 21 watt hours of energy but what's more, it's rated for a 20 Amp discharge rate. 20 Amps at 4.2 volts is over 80 watts (compared to 3 above). But this light could make the claimed 1,000 lumen theoretical max output (assuming the same LED) with just 4 watts of power, or about 1 amp of current (remember it's capable of 20 amps.) in other words, it can easily make 1,000 lumens, at least until it gets hot, but that's an issue with any light this size.

You may not like rechargeable batteries, but there's no denying what they're capable of.

I have that HD light and have tested it in the lab, it does produce the rated lumens.

Just got this & think it's pretty sweet deal for the price. I think I may have seen it for as low as 15 before. There's more stones here than I can figure out what to do with. I sharpened two pocket knives and it's a bit tricky w/smaller blades but once you get some practice with it to get the angle right it's quick clean work. wouldbuyagain/10

PS: there's some user videos to get you sorted

sharpener manual calls to use an angle gauge (I just eyeballed) but there's many at this price range so grabbed one to throw in the bag...this one seems well rated:

I re-sharpened the two pocket knives after having done so by eyeballing and it made quite a bit of difference (could shave arm hair w/ease) ....I used a 22deg angle based on a google search but looks like 17-22 is the sweet spot for small knives. Maybe for someone more experienced this tool is unnecessary but definitely a good one to have for a noob.

I have other things I use to set the angles when sharpening knives

And the angle you want to use on your knife is usually related to how you're going to use it. In other words, what you're going to cut, and the steel that's used. That said, you are correct. The rule of thumb with a smaller knife is that a shallower angle is often better.

I have some variations of these

Wedgek AGM Angle Wedges for Sharpening Knives 10 to 20 degrees, Blue

Primary thing to watch out for is that there's usually an angle from the spine (back of blade) to where the primary bevel on the blade begins. So if I have a 15° reference and I lay the knife on the reference edge, then there is a 15° reference angle relative to the other angle. So you are supposed to take that into account while determining the actual angle that you use.

This particular company is one of the very few I've actually discussed that, and, on their website, they even have a calculator to figure that out. I verified their numbers, I just like math.

Shows 399.00 to me. And it's only a 4" (the rest of the sizes are much more expensive, of course.
I see a used like new for 255

Then again I've been having bad luck on Amazon lately. Ordered 15 sheets of sandpaper and it showed up with one.

Ordered a nice set of Tesla screwdrivers and it came with harbor freight Pittsburgh screwdrivers

Thanks for your input. I purchased the sharpener and was able to improve my pocket knives but I think I will follow you further by buying the gauge. I appreciate the tip.

BroncoAz,

I don't understand the algorithms for Amazon. I put the vise in my cart but didn't pay for it. $73ish total after coupon, now if I open the link above again I see the same prices you do.

unlike the other vevor manuals, this one was actually fairly decent so give it a flip through.

I don't get it either. Ive texted a friend a link to a deal, he immediately opens it and gets a different price. Irritating.
