Even though it seems to me that the price of the DW lunchbox planer has generally stayed pretty consistent or maybe even come down a little bit over the last couple of years, I think this is the best deal I've seen considering the listing is for the "x" part number which includes the in/outfeed tables and an extra set of knives. The PH-50 are even cheaper, these are smaller and lighter. I recommend the PH-57 for the extra few bucks.

I bought one PH-55 and one PH-57. Both were around $17. The PH-55 was not on sale but looked even heavier duty. I have plenty of regular scissors so I was looking for heavier duty ones.

I can see what you mean. I felt the same way (more so actually about my Olfa scissors). It's like they try to avoid favoring a right hand biased grip so I just ends up not being great for either hand.

Or maybe it's that they don't have a top and a bottom? They're completely symmetrical about the longitudinal axis?

My Olfa scissors feel pretty odd in my hands. They’re almost too small.

These Engineers feel really good using them. Probably because I have XL sized hands and the larger openings of these scissors is welcomed.

I received mine yesterday. The first thing I noticed is that they aren't as ergonomic as the Doyle scissors I have next to them in the toolbox. They don't feel the best in the hand. They do cut well, however.

However, I have medium to large hands and find the scissors uncomfortable to use for the same reason the MM finds them comfortable -- the size of the finger openings. You have to push against the outer part of the finger openings to open the scissors and I have to strain to open the scissors enough to use the cutting surface near the pivot point.

I see that the Wiss scissors are spring loaded so that you don't need to work to open them. If the Engineer scissors were spring loaded they would be more comfortable to use, and would likely be getting better reviews here.
