Xcelite Plier, 5, Needle Nose - $7.49

Model - NN54VN. ESD safe. No picture shown in listing
Made in China. I have these, nice pliers for the price.
Below is a picture from another site.
$34.13 at Zoro.

Received mine today and they're just ok, not great; definitely not a $34 pair of pliers. They're made in China, build quality and feel shows this, has aggressive serrated jaws; I think they installed the wrong size spring, too long (see pic fully opened) hence maybe the low price and it creaks. At the same, I received a pair of Tsunoda wire cutters for $15 made in Japan, when comparing the two; the Tsunoda finish is a much better and smoother tool; they're known for good steel. The Xcelite pliers are totally fine for the current $7.50; they're not terrible, they'll get the job done and don't look bad but I would check out Tsunoda plierson Amazon for $15.

Got mine a day or so ago as well and agree; they are great for $7.50 but I don't think they are $34 pliers either. Still waiting on my Tsunoda cutters...

Man, that stinks about about the Xcelite needlenose. They don't look anything like my "vintage" Xcelites.

Seems a lot of companies use the "vintage" brand names to lure in people who recognize the name and then they buy the product and are left disappointed, but separated from their money. These brands live on in the collective memory of the population without ever being a brand people look to buy. They just recall hearing about them from granpaw and buy it thinking they're getting similar value/quality.

So I did some work and alterations on the Xcelite pliers, have to say they're not bad after doing it. The spring was way too long (see pic in above post), so I pulled the spring out and trimmed it down by approx. 20%, it really helped and lubricated it, no more creaking and now has good modulation opening and closing. I also filed down (metal file), then grounded the sides of jaws and tip with 48" belt grinder, lining the jaws properly, removed overlap. The outside coating is now gone but they're now very useable pliers. I can confirm the hand grips are really sticky and quickly collect dirt. Amazon price for $7.50 is totally doable and you could probably do much worse. Their good after tuning as described.

Sorry for going off topic. Keep the Amazon deals coming!

That is a nice set of shelves. Sturdy when assembled, goes together easily, each leg has a screw height adjuster. Finish looks very nice.
Good quality shelving. I have a Few in the shop for chems and misc. Bought some 10yrs ago when $50 was the norm.

Yes, quick check shows normal price elsewhere as low as $32 and as high as about $53. So this $5 savings not $120 savings.

Strange. Ive bought larger hunting knives, but that little folder is a no go? :headscrat :headshake
It's to do with NYC knife regulations. Some companies just do a blanket will not ship certain knives to NYS while others will block shipping to specific zip codes. I've run into this before and had to buy elsewhere than Amazon.
