$30 -> $18

I really like this ratchet. Haven’t taken it apart so I don’t know how the switch mechanism works, but it’s a fairly narrow head and smooth.

Strangely, if I add a set at $128.68, which Amazon will let me do, the cart price jumps to $177 and change. Weird.
The algorithm must have detected the sudden increase in sales and raised the price. Half of the units are still available since my post. The price will probably drop again when no one buys "used - like new" for $22 less than new.

I've been noticing a lot of $50+ and even $100-$200 items where the used/open option is only a couple dollars less than new. I just keep an eye on them to see if they drop eventually.
I get it if its like new and under $20 or so, there isn't much room there.

My experience, too. At one time I bought a lot of “used” Amazon goods.

Now, for the minuscule savings, it’s not worth it.

Here's my experience (about 3 months ago) with a "used like new in original packaging" from Amazon Warehouse. This is what I received. Was not worth the wait or aggravation of returning, not to mention time and gas involved to return. They supposedly inspect returns from previous purchasers? I figured it would have been new and just damaged packaging and unopened package. Notice anything missing. The plastic bubble for the storage case was still intact but somebody got a free electronic torque measuring unit.
As mentioned above, it's not worth it.

You never know what you will get. You may get something that is indistinguishable from brand new or you may end up with literal trash.

If you don't get a good price it's not worth it if for nothing else than losing the warranty.

I've been buying some car parts at 50 - 80 percent off that someone bought and realized that they bought the wrong part and returned it. That or they realized they were out of their depth and couldn't install it.

Tonights order: $30 for a "like new" brake kit that sells for 175 on rockauto, I'll roll the dice. Worst case scenario is I drive 2 miles to Kohls to return it. I got an "acceptable" suspension kit last month for 70 bucks and it had some scrapes on one shock from someone trying to install it.

Saving hundreds of dollars is worth the hassle for me. If it's only saving a few dollars it's probably not worth it.

I get your point, however even buying something new is no guarantee. A few years back I bought one of those spinning wing duck decoys while it was on a lightning deal. It arrived during the last week of our hunting season, the box looked new and undamaged so I didn't open it right away and forgot about it.
When I came across the box a month or two later I opened it, and inside was someone's old beat-up regular floating decoy. It looked nothing like the picture on the box, and in no way could be confused with new. I was well beyond the return window at that point so there was nothing I could do about it.

Warehouse deals can get you some nice stuff well below retail, just understand that you need to check/inspect it when it arrives and you may need to return it. I don't buy things that are time critical on warehouse deals, knowing I may need to send it back and condition is subjective depending on who is looking at it.

The surprise is the fun of the hunt. In some of my previous purchases, I have received duplicates and completely different items.
