"stuck in a drawer and forgot i had it"
I have so many tools to which this applies!
Thing is though, some of them have been lifesavers. For instance a while back I was pulling the steering wheel on a Ram 1500. There are three clips you have to access from a tiny port in the back of the wheel. You can only get to that area coming in from the rear, between the steering wheel and gage cluster. Then you have to work blind. It's a HUGE pain in the ****.
I realized, however, that a while back I'd purchased a USB borescope. I taped that to the steering column and ran it to my cell phone which I clipped in the phone holder I'd already mounted. Presto! I was able to actually see what I was doing and get the job done much faster.
The corollary to this is when I buy tools and straight-up forget I have them and end up struggling through jobs that would've been much easier had I remembered I already had exactly the right tool for the job. That happens more often than I'd like to admit.
