Most people love American tools because traditionally, they are the best! Strangely this often seems to be overlooked, even by managers of tool companies, who sometimes think they can buy in any old trash, put their name on it, and expect people to buy it because it's an "American brand"!
In other countries, people who like good tools will still want to buy good tools, so they will buy U.S. made tools, wherever they are. They will also buy tools made in the U.K. Germany, France and so on!
Here in the U.K. I have a lot of British made tools. There are various reasons for that. Domestically produced tools are a bit cheaper than those that have to be imported from Europe ( and a lot cheaper than those from the U.S.) for a similar tool. So if I need something like a rubber mallet I'll buy the British made one for £7, rather than the imported one for £27! I also find that U.S. made tools do tend to be produced to some very fixed patterns, but not others, so if I want a pair of combination pliers (not slip joint or Linemans) I have to buy British or German.
I do, however, love U.S. tools. I own wrenches and socket wrenches from many mnufacturers, and consider that the U.S. made ones from Snap On (and Blackhawk before that) are the finest available! They have also proven themselves to be durable, and thus a good investment, and they are enjoyable to use! I will therefore often elect to buy a U.S. made tool, despite it's higher price!
