Heres my Metabo, Made in Germany
Yes, the one I have that I'm recommending is the 8.5 amp version. It looks the same as the one on Amazon. I don't know if B&D changed it to be only 6.5 amps now for a cost reduction and brought out a "better" one for the Porter Cable line inastead. If so that is a bad move. Or it could just be a typo. The 8.5 amp one is a champ. - Paul
Metabo.
I have a rigid that I bought in 2006 that was Made in Germany. Supposedly by Metabo - that was the discussion at the time on all of the forums. Looks like a Metabo from then, just orange.
Try to get one to turn on and compare how smooth they run. Vibration will eventually wear you and the tool out.
Amazon had a warehouse deal on a W8-115 model for $77.00 with prime shipping. Score!
I think it is a typo. The Amazon and B&D website are showing the same part number of grinder, so I don't think there are two versions unless you have one they have now discontinued.
What is the part number on your grinder?
I like the feel and switch of the 402 but they didn't hold up, check the brushes before its too late.
Nice post, much appreciated.
That's why he's a Junior Member: because in his world it's more important to criticize than appreciate and educate. It will come back to him when he posts his first build.
No, that's why that account has been banned. It was a secondary account from another member to apparently make snide comments from. He's been warned and will lose all GJ privleges if it happens again.

I wish you would publicly name this person so we would all know who's posts are not worth reading.

I have a Bosch 4.5 inch and if I was to ever need another small angle grinder, I'd buy another Bosch. The only thing I might do different is get the 6 inch model next time.
What about this $79 German made Bosch?

Harbor Freight 4.5" grinders are always on sale for $9.95, and they actually last if you are not using them all day long.or B) the cheapest thing on the shelf that you can stand the feel of. Seriously, if you're using these things hard, anything short of the Metabo is a disposable tool.

They are not very good. The B&D 7750 at Wally retails for 30 and have actually seen it at Menards for 20 but its 10X the unit the HF is, throw it in a gang box and its not long and no one pays any attn to the fact is not a 100$ grinder. It may be better, has an improved cord and more durable brushes then the DeWalts, based on the same chassis and internals. Even weighs the same.
No matter what grinder you end up with a variable speed is a huge advantage. Will extend the life of the flap disk x2 easy.
You would never miss it, if you never had it. Have one and there is no going back, absolute control.
