I've been thinking about getting one of these, seems like a quite few companies are releasing their own version of CP angle impact. Is it going to be all the rage this year. I'd like to hear from those that have one.

This CP angle impact is 3 1/2" and puts out 220 ft-lbs. The Astro Nano is 3 7/8" and puts out 450 ft-lbs.

Personally I'll take double the power for the extra 3/8" in length.

The Nano also appears to be about half the price of the CP unit (at least where I can buy them).

Our 1832 and 1838 right angles are 3.46", 415ft-lbs

I have a Milwaukee M18 RA impact driver that I use for so many things...anything from drilling a hole in a tight spot (with hex style bits) to fastening sockets/bolts with a hex socket adapter. Yeah, it's not pneumatic and not nearly as powerful as a normal impact wrench or driver of any variety, but the idea of it is similar to what you're considering - long and thin with the trigger farther down the grip and away from the business end. I find this design incredibly handy and the tool as an excellent addition to the arsenal. Not the end all be all, but something you'll use a lot. Kind of like a ratchet that you don't have to turn, with the added benefit of being reactionless. No ratcheting action though obviously.

So again, my M18 RA impact is conceptually very similar to what you're looking at, and I love it...I say get one. Any one. That Astro looks nice

Are they out yet?

The.1832 shows up as in stock on Amazon when I just searched. So looks like it.

Are there any functional differences between the 1832 and the 1822 Nano, other than 3/8" in length and 35 ft lbs? Does it just come down to preference, or is there something I'm not seeing?

Do you have some comparison shots with a Nano? Maybe some examples where the angle fits and the Nano doesn't?

I know most of us don't need much excuse to buy new tools but I still like searching for justification.

Maybe send a sample to theoldwizard1? We all know he's too cheap to buy a new one and he can't get his nuts off or something.

hilarious lol:lol_hitti

I would have loved to have one of these when doing the clutch in my car, for the top bell housing bolts you need to have a swivel on the end of a long extension to get to otherwise.

Good comparison pic from Astro. I kinda thought they were a long handled stubby but clearly that's not the case. I suppose one advantage these RA impacts have would be confined spaces where your hand is not require tonne so close to the drive anvil. Astro has quite a few high spec well designed & priced impacts. I think they are on the ball with pneumatic tools in general and specialty sockets to go with them.

That is THE reason why I enjoy using my RA impact. Gets your hand out of the way when working in confined spaces.

OP, another nice looking piece is the IR Hammerhead. They make both air and battery versions too. I haven’t checked the specs in a while, I don’t think they’re as powerful as the new Astro. Might be a tad slimmer though.
