I have a good friend (Bill) that called me one Saturday obviously excited. Seems he was in his shop with the overhead door open working on his Jeep when he heard something behind him. He turned around to see a very large pit bull standing in the doorway growling.
Bill had never seen this dog before and actually lives in a rural area, so thought it very odd to see a strange dog on his place, especially being agressive. He reached inside his Jeep and pulled out a 40 cal and as he turned back toward the dog... he couldn't believe his eyes... the dog was charging toward him!!!!
Bill shot "bang"... but the dog continued it's charge. "Bang" another shot... and he thought... "am I missing?" On the 3rd shot just feet away, the dog finally turned around and retreated back out of the door.
Bill cautiously advanced to the doorway and watched the dog run several hundred feet toward the road... stop... then lay down and expire.
I have known Bill for years and have never heard him so shook up.... he just could't imagine why this strange beast would come inside his shop and be so agressive. He didn't like shooting this animal... but he shuddered at the thought of how this would have turned out if he hadn't had his pistol handy.
