I plan to purchase a Milwaukee 4270-21 compact magnetic drill press and am looking for a good source of decent USA made annular cutters. Milwaukee says this machine uses 3/4" Weldon shank. So while searching , I ran into Hougen website (they also make magnetic drill presses) but according to one of their rep, they said their cutters are designed to work on their machines, not others. I've never hold an annular cutter in my hand before so I am not sure exactly what the difference would be. I looked at some pictures of 3/4" Weldon shank cutters and it appear they have two flats 90 degrees from each other. Looking at Hougen, I see their cutters also have two flats 90 degrees apart. To me, they look identical but since I am not yet experienced with this, is there something else that I am missing?
I like the fact that Hougen annular cutters are made in the USA which is why I am interested in them, but only if their cutters will work on this Milwaukee model. Is there any other USA brand cutters that you would recommend?
Thanks in advance!
