I had another tidy up in preparation to put up some more lights.
I know it's not actually all that tidy, but it's a hell of a lot better than it has been and I can actually see my tool boxes, so I snapped a pic...

Today my new lights finally went up! I borrowed a lightweight mini scaff from work which made the job really easy...
Before and after pic, this corner of the shed had a mezzanine when I started, so there was no light at all, now it's much better!!!

It's been far too long between updates.
The fact is, in the last 5-6 months I've found very little time do get into the shed, and when I have it's just been a constant process of juggling things around to tidy up and make space!

I'm hoping the next few months will be quite the opposite with plenty of update worthy things to come!

Here's the first, I have pondered for over a year on how/where to store long lengths of material, steel/aluminium/timber...
Last week I finally came up with a relatively simple solution.
When I built the room the first thing I did was fit a 90mm square steel post which became the corner.
So I've attached another post to it, with a couple of braced shelves which are at the same height as the top two bays of my heavy duty steel shelving.

Here's a few pics of how it turned out.

What I have been working on is making the whole place feel more like a 'mam cave' than a shed...
I've started putting up some posters/pictures etc. on the walls.
Some of these were on my bedroom wall as a teenager so I've really enjoyed seeing them again!

This bike was a cheap buy which I intend to restore, but it's been buried in the corner since I bought it... I decided it'd be better mounted to the wall until I find the time to fix it up.

I've also been having fun in my hotwheels display room, as always it's still a work in progress but I now have a fair bit on display which I'm very happy about!

I picked up the herbie toolbox as part of my display, a lot of what is in it will end up on the walls eventually, but this makes for a cool way to store them for now...

Some of that toolpro stuff actually isn't too bad. I have a heap of the metal toolpro small parts trays, but just wiped the logo off with some acetone :)

I haven't posted in a little while, but many things have been happening in that time...

I made a start on the custom stainless exhaust for my sr500.
I haven't made a final decision on exactly how the exhaust will sit, but I'll play around with the bends and see where it ends up...

I also had to do a big tidy up, somehow creating enough room for this:

This is my latest toy, dream car in fact, I've imported it from south Africa as they were never sold in Australia... It's a 1988 vw caddy.
technically I've owned it since mid last year, but it finally arrived around a week ago.

This shed seemed so big when I moved in, now I'm all but out of space!

Another little project I've been working on...
We've needed a couple of little side tables for the lounge room for a couple of years now... I finally got the ball rolling.
my wife showed me what she wanted and I think I nailed it.
obviously it isn't finished yet, and the second one is only about halfway done too... But it is progress!! Haha

I finally got around to finishing the little tables off, very happy with how they turned out.

The problem I've had, which is far from a bad thing, is too many projects...
I've been doing little bits of lots of things.
the best part of all of this is simply spending quality time in this great space I've created for myself...

It's been far too long between updates!
Realistically I've been busy with everyday life and neglected the shed for a while, but the Xmas break always offers me the opportunity to tidy up and work on a few things.
one of the first things I've done is add to my fabrication table, I suspect this thing will never be finished as I can always improve on it...

I was never happy with the first set of wheels I had for it, so they got changed!
collagemaker_20201312584604.jpg

Then I made a shelf for the bottom, now hopefully the table to will stay clear and usable because all my clamps, packers and random junk can sit down there!
collagemaker_202013125716975.jpg

I made a second shelf/tray up higher, this will catch all the junk from the top so it doesn't collect on the tools below.
collagemaker_202013125923230.jpg

I started with a couple of 'offcuts' of ali plate from a local supplier, and this is what I had left when I was done.
I got my moneys worth...

Here's a few other things I've been working on in recent months, in no particular order...

I saw a video on YouTube where a guy made this 'third hand' thingo, I liked the look of it so made my own.
collagemaker_202013131312338.jpg

I picked up a cheap little smart TV, handy for YouTube and (once I sort the aerial) the cricket...
_20200103_131722.jpg

I made a bench seat using one of my spare tailgates, this now resides in the toy room...
_20200103_131752.jpg

I had this cool sign custom made by and artist in the UK.
_20200103_131941.jpg

This was a custom little breather for my mate's vw.

I made this air filter arrangement for my mate's vw. Started with a CAD (Cardboard Aided Design, if you've never watched project binky on YouTube I recommend you do) template, transferred that to some ali sheet, folded it in my new little Chinese pan break and then added the necessary inlet and outlet pipework...
collagemaker_202013133832214.jpg

Also made a little bit more progress on the motorbike exhaust, using pie cut stainless steel sections from bend Brothers.
It's all tacked together, I need to set up a back purge system and then weld it all up properly.

I would say it is scary. I in all my years as a Firey have never seen a burn so hot and so clean meaning nothing is left standing and it is burnt to the earth. The Australian Bush was designed to burn to regrow but to burn clean after being so dry for so long is frightening.

The tailgate seat looks good.

The fact that so many rivers have run dry, the bush is much drier than usual I guess... Makes it burn faster!

I love the tailgate bench, I've started unpacking boxes of old car and motorbike magazines, most of which have been packed away since 2003...
The bench gives me somewhere to sit and read.

I finally got around to welding the exhaust for the bike.
Took me a while to piece together what I needed to back purge the pipe, probably unnecessary at my current skill level but I wanted to do it anyway.
These two pics show about 95% of all the stainless steel welding I've ever done, most of it is fairly average but you gotta start somewhere!

Still got a bit of work to do to make the muffler fit, then I can see if it still fits on the bike!

This weekend I started a little project, and surprisingly finished it too.
made a windscreen washer bottle which fits the factory mounts in a mk1 golf.
