I recently picked up a 1944 delta 17-600 and I am going through it making things right for now. At a later point I will completely tear down, strip, replace the quill bearings, and re-paint. As of now I have replaced the improper motor drive pulley with the correct 5 step slow speed and belt, replaced shaft collar bearing, fixed wiring, welded up the holes in the cover and replaced a missing bracket on the lower cover.
I have also replaced multiple improper fasteners throughout and done some cleaning. It came with a VFD and has a 1 HP motor. Does anyone know what steps would be best to use with this combination ?
I am missing a couple of parts to make it correct: The 795-s knob screw for the cover and a feed handle ball. If anyone has these pieces and is willing to sell let me know. I would also like to replace the tag or restore if possible. It is the Milwaukee not Rockwell.
The table is horrible and has a base plate bolted to it. I am debating tigging up the holes with ni/cu rod. Or finding a decent used table to replace it. Kinda hard to find and this is already turning into a money pit (seems to be the story of my life). It has the production table and the rack works great.
I have also picked up an 882 light that cleaned up nicely and would like to see how it could be mounted. I have some ideas but would like additional opinions. I am thinking about making the original style L bracket and mounting it using the bottom cover or quill return spring fastener.
