another garage door opener question

OK; one of my openers has a purple "learn" button, and a symbol that looks like a "wi-fi symbol) manufacture date 2005.
the other opener has a red learn button. manufacture date 2000

These are still in their packages, never opened; but when I bought them I thought they were "all the same" as long as all was Chamberlain. I have recently found out "not quite".
Both openers are up, adjusted and working fine. just gotta extend the bell wire about 10' on the opener for the "far door".

I have (2) 953 D, 3-button remotes and a 940D keyless entry, and reading the back of the packages it says they will work on all Chamberlain with that wi fi symbol on it and all with a purple button. It doesn't say that it "won't" work on the red button one, though/
In a trip to Menards they have a 3 button remote that says it will work on operators with 3 or 4 different color buttons, covering both of my openers, I'm probably looking at buying a couple of those.

2 questions; WILL these remotes work on both my operators,
if not, anyone here interested in them? Might even trade what I have, for/towards the "right stuff"

Nobody knows if these remotes will work? I'd rather find out on someone else's experience before I open them up....
(I think it would be easier to get rid of them on CL if they are still in the package, if they won't work on both my openers)

No

If your garage door opener has a Purple Learn Button, it utilizes Security+ 315Mhz technology. You will see a ((())) symbol on all of your remote devices.

If your garage door opener has a Red or Orange Learn Button, it utilizes Security+ 390Mhz Rolling Code technology.

As mentioned above they will not cross. The new My Q remotes, according to Liftmaster should work with both.
thanks. but from what I have seen at the local big box, I thought there was a couple of different remotes available; if I remember right "my Q" was a different remote "yet". There was one 3-button they all carry that said it would work with red, green, purple and 1 other color (Forget; orange maybe, not looking at it as I type this) Maybe it was the "my Q"?

Prices are consistent at $34.95, I'm gonna look next time I am in there and hit up FeeBay and Amazon.

In the meantime, first, thanks for responding, and 2nd, does anyone need these other 3 button remotes that I have, brand new and still in the (dingy, yellowed from age) original packaging? I listed the Chamberlain numbers for what I have in an earlier post in this thread.

Exactly what is it that you are trying to do? Do you want the same button to open both doors, or do you want two different buttons on the same remote to open the two doors, one button for each door?

You want a LiftMaster 893Max control. It will program to any LiftMaster/Chamberlain opener made with safety eyes, so an opener made from mid 1993 all the way to current MyQ series. They claim to program to any opener from the green learn button to current, but we could not get it to program to a pre safety eye green button Chamberlain, but will program to a green button Chamberlain with safety eyes. They are super simple to program. We carry them now instead of carrying all of the separate remotes. One other plus side, is if you have to replace one of your older openers with a current one, it will still work down the road.

BTW, do yourself a favor and buy LiftMaster or Chamberlain branded controls, they are much simpler to program than the one size fits all type carried by big box stores, like the Clicker brand, although they are made by Chamberlain.

I want 1 remote, with seperate buttons on it, to be able to work either door.
No, I don't want them to both open with 1 push of a button though there are times that I now wish that I had gone with a single 16' door instead of 2 seperate ones.... (nother story)
I also do not want to fumble with a seperate remote for each door either.

kramarj BTW said:
Yeah I saw those too, on the shelf next to the Chamberlain branded ones.
I kinda figured the Chamberlain branded one would work better than the jack of all trades remote....

The "name brand" controls are just way more user friendly. The other brands work, don't get me wrong, but are just a pain to program.

+1.. I always use brand specific radio controls. I've programmed a few "Clicker" controls after the HO purchased and couldn't figure out. No thanks, not my first choice.

We run into that all the time, it is the worst! We always get- it worked with the last one, it should work with the new one. NO! haha.
