It seems like this has been asked before, and is in line with a previous post from hbracerx http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=300719 about a working garage.

I like hb will be doing various levels of heavy vehicle maintenance and modifications to cars and motorcycles. Potential for any vehicle type fluid to be on flooroil, brake fluid, ****** fluid etc

More importantly is the welding and grinding. From time to time I will be building iron railings and metal art work. Lots of hot sparks that travel in many different directions. I saw on hbracerx's post it mentioned to use a welding blanket for heavy weld/grind situation, I imagine at first I may be careful but likely over time will fail to move pads around as needed.
Is that mainly for epoxy coatings?

I am fine with concrete color and if using anything with color it will be light gray to minimize the appearance of scratching.

A little research on sealers looks like it might be the best wqay to go, just concerned about the wear factor, it seems it may need more frequent reapplication, or did I not read that right?

My concrete is about 1.5 months old now so should be ready for something and I need my space back as everything is outside right now and winter is comin quick.
Oh and if it matters I live in the Denver metro area so climate is pretty dry but can see temps swings from -10f to 90f.

Shop dimensions are 24x32, and the cement guy saw cut lines on the inside.
those are about 1/4" to 3/8" deep and I would like to fill those with something to keep them from building dirt in them.
Not sure what to use on those.

It has been power troweled to a nice smooth finish inside and I really like that feel and look so dont want to slap tiles over it or anything, plus those would melt with hot sparks.

I think that concludes my questions and after 18 months of house remodel the Mrs. is finally letting me work on my shop.
Thanks in advance onany assistance you guys can provide.
Glad to be a part of this site even though Ive mbeen a lurker with basically nothing to contribute.
A few pictures just because.

Did they use anything when they power troweled it? Any cure n seal? If not we have a penetrating clear urethane that would be perfect. You still have to use caution with slag and protect it from that.

Otherwise we have several penetrating sealers that can work.

No they did not use any sealer. Does the urethane basically top coat? are there any products that will withstand the welding bb's and slag etc?

In short... NO.

A penetrating, non film forming sealer won't burn off but its not going to protect the concrete as Scotty stated you have a huge potential to do some damage to the floor if you don't protect it.
