Hi Guys
Sorry for rehashing this sort of question again. I have a solaronics 40 foot natural gas radiant tube heater that I'm installing in my garage. I've had the gas plumbed in and the guy who's doing the final hook up isn't around, nor is anyone I know that's an authority.
According to the manual, I need 2 inches of clearance from combustible materials around the vent hole, 0 inches from non-combustible materials. No problem. Here's the question. The wall is ICF design, 6 inches thick. What I'm wondering is, can I cut a hole thru the cement portion of the wall that's 4 inches in diameter and enlarge the combustible materials on either side of the hole to the 8 inches that is required by code? The thing is, I can rent a 4 inch diameter core saw, but to make an 8 inch hole thru the concrete in the wall it's going to have to be overlapping holes which makes the job much bigger.
The manual only shows combustible and non-combustible installations.
Anybody have any experience or suggestions?
