Another Victim

OK, you guys, you got another victim. I was going to fill in my 1/4" SAE sockets, mishmash picked from the clearance bins, instead I bought some Gearwrench. A rail of 6 points, a wobble extension and a this is really your fault, a 84 tooth flex-head. I have three small Mercury outboards from the 70s that are next in the project line.

Congrats. Stick around long enough and your entire garage will be brand new and some tools you did not know you had to have.

Right on, life's too short for **** tools. Quality tools are pretty cheap these days relative to like 100 years ago. Do you have the swivel head ratchets? HF Pro versions are great especially for their cheap prices (like $10 to $12 each). I use the heck out of mine.

Tis is so common and used so much its part of a good tool set you probably should have had a long time ago. I don't use it every bolt, but there are places its the right thing. I prefer to use as big as I can.

I'll have to check Princess Auto, a HF type store and more, for a pivot head. I had a Craftsman round head fine tooth and a ITC, a Proto copy, 1/4" ratchets.

Now, I have sockets with real indents! I didn't like the Gearwrench deeps, though, They're not broached any deeper than a standard socket.

Yeah you will like the pivot heads, as once you break a fastener loose, you can turn it into a screwdriver and zoom the fastener out in a hurry.

You guys just keep adding on don't you, chuckle. I think that's a baseball term. I don't get to hear it much with the Blue Jays. I amazoned a Tekton set of deeps and a pivot head ratchet. Just as well, I didn't do Princess Auto, it is like Costco, one of those places where they don't let you leave until you spend a $100.

After reading the posts on 1/4" ratchets , I could see how much more the 1/4 is now used, Gearwrench sockets went up to 9/16 .

Gearwrench has pretty complete sets of 1/4 and 3/8 6 point sockets that go on promo together- I just had to add deepwell 15/16 and 1” for the 3/8 sets to be compete to 1”.

Wobble extensions are the best! I can't tell you how many times just that slight bit of cant saved me a TON of work.
