Home brew oil filter wrench

:+1: That is what I was thinking, maybe from special filter. :dunno:

Possibly a welding ground clamp. Can you post some more pics? What does the screw between the strap hand handle end with?

No its not a brake in the sense it stops something. Its a brake in the sense its used for bending purposes. So i would say that is the replacement handle for a sheet metal brake. the rounded soft metal ******** it would be what would engage the brake "bending hinge" of the machine. I have a 10 1/2' aluminum brake for bending aluminum coil and your piece has similar componants to a metal brake.

Not an oil filter wrench. The nut inside the band would interfere with the filter when the device is closed.

Explain what you mean. Im a sheet metal worker and know what a brake is but i dont see what this would do on a brake

Yea after some more details I gathered that. Helps when all the info is present at once.

So maybe it bolts down to something with that base plate. Maybe call snap on tomorrow with that part number. Looks like leather inside of the strap?

O, I wonder if it is a service tool. Like say you bolt it to a bench and use the strap/handle to prevent the part from turning while your work on it.:dunno:

The handle is 6" long. It has to be a stop for a shaft to some sort of equipment. When the handle is pulled it moves very very little.

Again, it's a brake (As in stopping something) a band brake, It even has the brake lining. It only works in one direction, so yeah not a strap wrench per se.

Definitely not part of a sheet metal brake.

Being part of a service tool may work, but without knowing what for...

It might not be a cam clamp but. I dont think its a stop for a shaft. The material on the inside looks to be a felt material and the band it self looks to be copper witch is pretty soft. This is a rather precarious tool. I cant stop looking at it.

Obviously it is an IRake. You couldn't dream of it but some day you won't be able to live without it. Some engineer likely left it in a bar as a teaser. Long AAPL calls and getting longer on this revelation.
