really? seems like a odd application just for the threaded rod? or everywhere that stuff doesnt come off

I used it on the threaded rod pretty liberally. I used a very light coating on the slide.

this is the antiseize somebody had mentioned

permatex antiseize

I looked it up. It was mjozefow in his "Everything you need to know about bench vises..." thread under the lubrication section.

Nice vise! On my vise I use putty, I think it would hold up good since I put it on cars.
