Just finished building a simple set of 2 x 8 Doug fir ramps for my E350 van, mostly to load up lawn and garden equipment. The ramps are too slick, especially if the wheels are wet and muddy. Looking to give the ramps more traction. I could tape down some of the grippy tape, glue down cross pieces, or other some such thing, but I would rather paint it with a non-slip coating.
My questions are would one of the typical non-skip paint additives work in this situation? They don't seem grippy enough. Second, I've got a ton of leftover paint, and clean sandbox sand. Would putting them together work?
Thoughts?
