Hi people,

I’m new to this forum and I can see that I’m gonna like it. So many interesting threads and topics and I’ve only been here for a few minutes. I found my way here because I was doing some searching online, trying to see if the Craftsman tools that I recently took ownership of are something I should hang onto or if perhaps there’s a market for old tools like this? I dunno 🤷. But I sure someone here can let me know what I have. Here’s what I’m talking about, all of these tools, as far as so can tell) are from the early 1950s and man are the in excellent condition:

•6pc SAE spanner wrench set with metal stand.
•20pc SAE 1/2” drive socket set with ratchet. This set fits inside the toolbox and includes the original Craftsman tools catalog from the early 1950s. I’ve never seen a paperback catalog this old in such pristine condition.
•14pc SAE 1/4” drive socket set with metal carrying case.
•Benchtop vise #5169, I don’t know much about this thing other than it’s a 4” model, it’s heavy, and it too is in excellent condition.

Hi and welcome to the site. Your old Cman tools are somewhat collectible to the right people. There are Cman collectors here that would be interested in your tools from what I can see and what you describe. If you are going to sell, I think you’ll find some interested buyers. Or, you have a nice start, keep collecting.

Jim C. ( who would be interested in the 1/4” drive set.)

Welcome. Glad you like the place. You'll like it even more when you get the lay of the land. I recommend you read the Sticky that says READ ME at the very top of the forum. It includes an A to Z Index of all threads, including those not active enough at the moment to be visible on page 1, including one for early 50s Craftsman Heritage tools like yours. The collectors discussing tools like yours on that thread would love to see them and you'd learn more there.

As Jim alluded to, there is. That market is not this thread or the Heritage thread, though. Sales, or clever barely disguised sales, are strictly prohibited in this section. Once you have a few posts under your belt demonstrating that prolonged interest you have expressed, you will be allowed to start a sales thread in the Classified section just below this section. Note that nobody is allowed to reply to sales ads in the Classified section, such is the degree to which our founder, the mods, and a majority of the older members rightfully dislike mixing pleasure and business. Otherwise, the mods are liable to zap it/you.

Welcome. And I should read the rules also. Thanks. Lugs.
