Is this a linesman tool bucket like the tag says?

Either I'm an idiot for believing the tag or the linesman

were idiots for using a metal bucket around all that juice.

Looks like something you'd drop bits of scrap into, not a tool bucket....

I think "Senior" is the preferred term...:bounce:

Maybe it was used to catch hot scraps from welding or soldering something overhead, or arc lamp carbons...just guessing, have no clue, but it looks like it was designed to catch and contain something hot.

They probably thought it was a linesmans tool as it probably has a Klein symbol on it, it is a soap bucket that would have a brush with a rubber stopper around the handle, they are still used today in the telephone industry to soap splice cases for air leaks. Just noticed it says 40-50s, they are still manufactured today, I would say that is less than 20 years old as it looks like it is aluminum, the early ones were steel.

Maybe. Because every time I see linesmen, they're sitting down.

It's the ultimate hurry up and wait profession. Get to the area of the job site as fast as you can, scope it out and call it in, than wait for clearance. Which can be in 15 minutes or 28 hours, with no indication of which. With it being critical that you stand ready nearby.

She's aluminuminum alright, it has that old look to it but I guess its newer than the tag says.
